Human Rights Campaign Honors McKesson as a Best Place to Work for Fifth Consecutive Year

McKesson Corporation
Posted on: 09 Nov 17

For the fifth straight year, McKesson Corporation was honored as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. McKesson scored 100% on the HRC’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees.

“We are proud to be honored with a perfect score by the Human Rights Campaign for the fifth year in a row,” said John H. Hammergren, chairman and CEO, McKesson Corporation. “Diversity and inclusion are foundational values in our company – and an important ingredient in McKesson’s long-term success.”

McKesson’s LGBT and Straight Ally Employee Resource Group, named ‘OPEN’, plays an integral role in supporting the overall goals, objectives and initiatives of McKesson to be an employer of choice for LGBT people and allies. McKesson’s OPEN group has established a Policy Team that collaborates with McKesson’s Diversity & Inclusion and Public Affairs teams to monitor proposed and existing legislation that could significantly impact LGBT employees and their families. In recent years, McKesson’s OPEN group worked closely with human resources to further expand the company’s parental leave benefits to LGBT employees.

“This recognition is the result of teamwide effort, and OPEN would like to acknowledge the tireless support of McKesson’s Diversity & Inclusion team, McKesson’s Human Resources and Benefits team, and many other groups and individuals who helped us earn this important designation from the HRC,” said Bryan Thompson, national chair of McKesson’s OPEN employee resource group. “But the honor is also a testament to what McKesson employees do daily to foster and support a culture of inclusion. It helps us to improve lives, strengthen relationships and make McKesson a stronger organization.”

McKesson has also been named a “Military Friendly Employer” for three years in a row by GI Jobs and recognized as a “Best Place to Work” for people with disabilities by the Disability Equality Index. Additionally, McKesson’s ERG Council was recognized for its outstanding contribution to furthering the company’s diversity by the Association of ERGs and Councils of Prism International, Inc.
