Takeda Italia wins the prize for Digital Innovation - Pharmaceutical Industry at the international Le Fonti Awards 2017

The prestigious international award went to the MyHospitalHub project
which helps doctors and patients to stay in touch after being discharged from the hospital.
MyHospitalHub was implemented at
San Raffaele hospital in Milan with the support of Takeda Italia.

Rome, 23 October 2017 – During the “Le Fonti Awards 2017” that took place last Friday at the prestigious venue of the London Stock Exchange, Takeda Italia, with the innovative MyHospitalHub project, has been awarded with the prize for the Excellence of the Year for Digital Innovation - Pharmaceutical Industry category. According to the judges, the prize was awarded  “For being an example of international excellence in the pharmaceutical sector. In particular, the MyHospitalHub project, an App that simplifies the relationship between hospital facilities and patient guaranteeing security and facility in post-discharge communication through a continuous and effective exchange of information”.

Le Fonti Awards, part of the international IAIR Awards, is one of the world's leading prizes in Excellence in Innovation & Leaderships. It is awarded annually by representatives of the global business community to companies and managers who have distinguished themselves through innovation and leadership in their respective fields.

Developed by the tech company Vidiemme and implemented at the Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the San Raffaele IRCCS Hospital in Milan, headed by Professor Fabio Ciceri, MyHospitalHub has the goal of simplifying the relationship between the hospital facility and patient by ensuring simple and secure communication between doctors and their patients in post-discharge.

MyHospitalHub consists of a web platform and an App and is targeted at all hospital facilities treating patients suffering from cancer or chronic diseases. Thanks to its interactive platform, each hospital will be able to independently create a website to provide all the useful information and appointments calendar to the patients in post-discharge. By connecting to the website, patients will have access to a complete overview of their disease management: treatment, exams and all the details related to their care pathway in the relevant hospital facility. Information is provided to the patient via the MyHospitalHub application which can be downloaded for free from the Apple and Google stores and offers additional services such as notifications on when they should take their medicines and on outpatient appointments also updating the patient on any change in treatment. Patients can easily interact with doctors by sending information on compliance and quality of life, in a continuous and effective exchange of information.

“In the world of healthcare, innovative digital or tech initiatives are truly beneficial when the technology used helps to solve a problem or to simplify a situation in which the patient is often involved” - states Davide Bottalico, Head of Digital at Takeda Italia. “MyHospitalHub moves exactly in this direction. The project meets the need to improve and highlight the relationship between the hospital facility and the chronic or cancer patient by allowing the healthcare organisations to manage their processes more simply and effectively and the patient to be more involved and central in disease management. We hope that this project can soon be implemented in many other Italian hospitals.”

“We are proud to receive this recognition awarding our commitment in the process of digital transformation and innovation,” commented Rita Cataldo, Country Manager at Takeda Italia. “At Takeda we dedicate ourselves to constantly improve patients’ quality of life not only through the development of innovative specialist medicines but also through the use of digital technologies that offer an informative path to doctors and patients, with a positive impact especially on the patient. Cooperation with leading healthcare facilities, like San Raffaele, is essential in this since the hospital has contributed effectively to the implementation of MyHospitalHub thanks to Professor Fabio Ciceri and his staff.”
