The Bridging Clinical Research & Clinical Health Care Collaborative, to be held April 4-5 near Washington, D.C., will bring together leaders from pharma, biotech, clinical research organizations, health care organizations, advocacy groups and the FDA with the goal of doubling the number of physicians and patients involved in clinical research — from less than 3 percent up to 6 percent.

The event, which has three focus areas — regulatory, technology, and people and processes — will feature many prominent speakers, including:

  • Badhri Srinivasan, ABD, MS, head of global development operations, Novartis; collaborative chair
  • Janet Woodcock, MD, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research; keynote speaker
  • Laura Esserman, MD, MBA, director, UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center; oncology keynote speaker
  • Greg Simon, JD, president, Biden Cancer Initiative; Bridging People and Processes keynote speaker
  • T.J. Sharpe, cancer survivor and patient advocate; patient keynote speaker

Additional speakers and panelists are from Advarra, Allscripts, Covance, Eli Lilly, Elligo Health Research, FDA, Frenova Renal Research, INC Research, Mayo Clinic, Pfizer, PRA Health Sciences, Saama, SubjectWell, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and more. Review the full agenda at bridgingclinical.com.

“By working together, we can align patients, physicians, health systems, clinical researchers, sponsors and regulatory authorities to increase patient and physician participation in clinical research,” said Laura Esserman, director, UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center. “I’m looking forward to the collaboration.”

“I’m pleased to participate in the collaborative as its mission to assist clinical research stakeholders in improving study volunteer experiences aligns with that of the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP),” said Ken Getz, Associate Professor and Director, Center for the Study of Drug Development, Tufts University School of Medicine and founder of CISCRP.
