Top Facial Plastic Surgeon Releases Book for Baby Boomer Women on How to Look Young Again

Posted on: 30 Nov 17

NEW YORK, Nov. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in just the last two decades, the number of cosmetic procedures performed on patients over the age of 65 has increased by a whopping 1,263%. Dubbed the “Me Generation” by writer Tom Wolfe, Baby Boomers have always had a soft spot for self-expression. They were the flower children of the 60s, the disco dancers of the 70s, the big hair and fast cars of the 80s, and the responsible adults of the 90s and 00s. Now aged 55 to 75, Baby Boomers are more keen than ever to live life on their own terms, and for many that means maintaining their youthful spirit and looks through diet, yoga and exercise, clean living… and regular trips to their favorite cosmetic surgeon.

According to renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. Patrick Flaharty, Baby Boomers have very particular needs and concerns when it comes to facial rejuvenation procedures, but knowing which ones to choose can be overwhelming. “It’s remarkable how quickly the specialty of facial rejuvenation has evolved, in even the past few years,” he comments.

Dr. Flaharty, who this week released Young Again: A Baby Boomer’s Guide to Facial Rejuvenation, his second book on the topic, explains that “many of the procedures and treatments we were recommending to our clients to erase the years have now been either refined or surpassed. And the same is true of surgical techniques – especially in regard to the modern facelift!” Techniques have changed dramatically, he says. “Today’s modern facelift, when performed by a specialist, is more natural-looking than ever. We no longer use a general anesthetic, and recovery time is incredibly fast.”

A facial plastic surgeon based in southwest Florida, approximately 80% of Dr. Flaharty’s patients are Baby Boomer women aged 55 and older. “It’s challenging for anyone considering facial rejuvenation to get a full picture of all the options,” he says. Most patients start their search online, Googling the procedure(s) that they’ve seen a friend or family member have. “But the truth is that everyone is different, so, just because a procedure worked well for your best friend, doesn’t mean it’s what would be best for you! I hope my new book is a starting foundation for anyone over the age of 50 who is considering an aesthetic procedure.”

Young Again: A Baby Boomers Guide to Facial Rejuvenation is available on Amazon.com and at select bookstores across the US and internationally. All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation and/or Smile Train.
