WELL Partners with athenahealth to Bring Two-Way Texting to Front Office Teams and Their Patients

Posted on: 30 Nov 17

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WELL, a patient engagement platform that brings two-way texting to front office teams and their patients, today announced a partnership with athenahealth, Inc. through athenahealth's 'More Disruption Please' (MDP) program. As part of the athenahealth®Marketplace, this newly integrated application is now available to athenahealth's growing network of more than 106,000 healthcare providers, enabling front office staff to text message their patients from their computers. For patients, text messages sent through WELL show up on their cell phones, without the need to download a separate application.

"WELL delivers a valuable service for administrative teams and patients alike, offering an open communication channel for patients who prefer to text while creating more capacity for patients who would rather use the phone," said Guillaume de Zwirek, co-founder and CEO of WELL. "Most front offices continue to communicate using the telephone, leaving patients to interact with confusing phone menus, receive voicemails that they usually don't check, and suffer through long games of 'phone tag.' WELL was built specifically to address this problem, giving practices a powerful, pain-free way to make sure their patients feel valued."

athenahealth is a network-enabled, results-oriented services company that offers medical record, revenue cycle, patient engagement, care coordination, and population health services for hospital and ambulatory clients. The company's vision is to build a national health information backbone to help make healthcare work as it should. As an MDP partner, WELL joins a network of like-minded healthcare professionals who are looking to disrupt established approaches in healthcare that simply aren't working, aren't good enough, or aren't advancing the industry and help providers thrive in the face of industry change.
