Alfa Chemistry Launched Peptide Synthesis Services

Posted on: 25 Jan 18

Recently, Alfa Chemistry announced to launch synthetic peptides with a wide range of labels, scales, purities and delivery time options to meet the research needs of the customers.

Peptides are short chains of amino acid monomers linked by amide bonds. They are bioactive substances that are involved in the function of various cells in the body. It is a class of compound with molecular structure between the amino acids and proteins, formed by a variety of amino acids in accordance with the order of the combination of peptide bonds. Up till now, more than one hundred kinds of peptides have been discovered and extracted in the human body. There has been an unprecedented prosperity for the research and utilization of peptides.

Peptides have become instrumental in mass spectrometry, allowing the identification of proteins of interest based on peptide masses and sequence. Besides, recently peptides have been used in the study of protein structure and function, for example, synthetic peptides can be used as probes to see where the protein-peptide interactions occur. That’s why the synthesis of peptides not only has very important theoretical significance, but also has important application value. Peptide synthesis can used in verification of the structure of a new peptide. And it also can provide important information for the mechanism of peptide biosynthesis, develop enzyme model and synthesize new peptide drugs.

The chemical synthesis methods of peptides include liquid phase method and solid phase method. Liquid phase synthesis methods are mainly used in the synthesis of oligepoptide such as aspartame, dipeptiven, oxytocin and so on. Compared with solid phase synthesis, liquid phase synthesis has the advantage of more selections of protective groups, low-cost, and it is easy to enlarge the scale of the synthesis. Compared with the solid-phase synthesis, the main disadvantage of liquid-phase synthesis is that it is small-scale and time-consuming. The solid-phase synthesis method has the characteristics of being convenient, rapid and easy to be automated, and can be easily synthesized to about 30 amino acids. The chemical synthesis of peptides including liquid phase and solid phase method has matured. In recent decades, the solid-phase synthesis of peptides has become the conventional method of peptide synthesis and expanded to nucleotide synthesis due to its advantages of time-saving and labor-saving.

“Alfa Chemistry provides synthetic peptides with a wide range of labels, scales, purities and delivery time options to meet the research needs of our customers. “ Said Dr. Brenda Randy, the marketing manager of Alfa Chemistry, “We ensure the quality of each custom peptide via both mass spectrometry and high performance liquid chromatography analyses after peptide purification and quality control (QC) procedures.”
