Seven Wisconsin health information and technology companies have been awarded scholarships to attend the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, NV, March 5-9, 2018. Recipients will receive opportunities to meet with investors, develop partnerships, showcase their products, and represent Wisconsin’s strength in health technology.

The Small Business Scholarship program is managed by BioForward and supported by funds provided by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). Scholarship recipients are Wisconsin health tech companies that demonstrate a positive impact on the biohealth industry and have a financial need.

The 2018 HIMSS scholarship recipients include:

Yahara Software – Yahara specializes in custom enterprise software solutions to optimize workflows, collect and analyze data, and visualize results for specialized IT needs for life sciences, healthcare, and biotechnology companies.

Ancilla Partners - A healthcare technology firm based in Milwaukee, Ancilla builds many web applications in the healthcare quality, data, and reporting sector for organizations in Wisconsin and across the country.

Healthio – Healthio is building an intelligent platform for preventive and predictive healthcare, focusing on the 5000 hours away from the doctor and trying to understand changes in individual physiology along with social and environmental factors to predict health outcomes.

Alithias – A healthcare data analytics and patient advocacy company providing population health analytics and unique data visualization capabilities that make the data actionable to users and case managers.

Spaulding Medical A medical device company disrupting traditional cardiac management in hospital and ambulatory markets with their software offering a centralized, interoperable hub for cardiac data within EMRs.

Wellbe - Wellbe’s cloud-based platform facilitates connected care between patients and healthcare providers across an episode such as a joint replacement surgery, empowering patients to participate as active partners in their treatment, and giving providers the ability to monitor large numbers of patients more effectively.

Physician Compass – Physician Compass’s platform extracts and compiles patient/visit level data for physician quality metrics to be used with government compliance programs as well as health system quality improvement programs.

“These scholarships allow early-stage Wisconsin companies to make connections and explore business partnerships at a conference they may have not had the chance to attend otherwise,” said Lisa Johnson, CEO of BioForward. “It is essential to support our local health tech companies that have a significant impact on the larger biohealth industry, patient care, and our state’s economy.”
