Building on the existing globally-recognized tenant-partners located within the Global Center for Health Innovation (Global Center), activity to pull additional international brands to the Cleveland facility and expand existing relationships is proving fruitful.

“In leading the strategic direction of the Global Center, BioEnterprise is focused on creating a truly global innovation asset in Cleveland,” said Aram Nerpouni, BioEnterprise President & CEO. “Our continuing relationship with HIMSS and the critical engagement of other current tenants, as well as the addition of new tenants such as Plug and Play, have already prompted new programming, partnerships, and energy in the building.”

  • HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), and its 70,000 individual and 600 corporate members around the world, has renewed its relationship with the Global Center by extending its lease through 2021, becoming a strategic partner and engaging its membership in its Innovation and Conference Center on the 4th floor.
  • Plug and Play, a global Innovation Platform launching in Cleveland in partnership with Cleveland Clinic and JumpStart, has moved its team into the Global Center and will launch its first cohort this spring.
  • Health Velocity Capital, Nokia Growth Partners, RRE Ventures, Accenture Consulting, PNC Bank, and Mastercard Healthcare are actively involved in the Global Center Executive Briefing Series, working to collaboratively solve healthcare challenges.
  • Recruitment of an international Global Center Advisory Board is in process.

“HIMSS is excited to renew our partnership with the Global Center,” said Carla Smith, executive vice president, HIMSS. “Our HIMSS Innovation and Conference Center will further leverage the Global Center platform to engage our members in joint programming and in the development of healthcare innovation.”

In addition to large internationally-recognized brands, multiple startup companies are already engaging with the Global Center by leasing desk and work space and participating in Executive Briefings. To accommodate this incremental activity, space has been carved-out on the 4th floor of the Global Center for a health IT incubator and co-working space to open in early summer.

“HIMSS has been a very active partner in the Global Center from the beginning, bringing such great events as the Connectathon and Hackathon, and we are excited by their continued and renewed engagement,” said Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County executive. “With the addition of Plug and Play and the planned health IT incubator and co-working space on the 4th floor, the Global Center is creating an engine for economic growth in Cleveland that should attract meaningful investment and create new jobs.”

The Global Center is transforming into an active corporate innovation center. At the hub of a global network of world-class healthcare partners, the Global Center will convene respected thought leaders and enable stakeholders to solve strategic healthcare challenges that no one company can solve on their own. Spaces in the building, from offices to meeting rooms to co-working desks to Starbucks, will encourage interaction and collaboration on a daily basis. The Global Center will host a community of corporate innovation teams, startups and funders, all focused on a healthcare agenda of mutual interest and global importance.

“From the perspective of an entrepreneur active in the Northeast Ohio ecosystem, the BioEnterprise strategy for the Global Center is compelling,” said Charu Ramanathan, CEO of VitalXchange and co-founder of CardioInsight. “Just from the initial executive briefing I gained valuable insight from corporate executives from around the country, met with potential local and coastal investors, and connected with collaborators and talent to assist in launching my company. I look forward to locating in the Global Center and both supporting and benefiting from this new direction.”
