WARSAW, Ind., March 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The OrthoPediatrics Foundation for Education & Research received 501(c)(3) status from the IRS as a public charity in the state of Indiana on March 7, 2018. The organization, which licenses its name from OrthoPediatrics, Corp., was founded to provide funding and support for pediatric orthopaedic education and research. With support of the Company, as well as private donors, the foundation will sponsor various educational events throughout the US and abroad. It will also fund educational grants, fellowships and clinical research in the field. Dr. Peter F. Armstrong will lead the Foundation along with a Board of Directors comprised of renowned pediatric orthopaedic surgeon educators, including:

  • Ben Alman, MD (Vice President), Distinguished James R. Urbaniak Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University.
  • Todd Milbrandt, MD (Secretary-Treasurer), Chief of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
  • Don Bae, MD, Co-director of the Harvard Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship, Site Director for the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, and Chair of the annual International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium.
  • Jon Davids, MD, Assistant Chief of Orthopedics and Medical Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California.
  • Richard Kruse, DO, MBA, Division Chief of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
  • David Podeszwa, MD, Co-Director of the Center of Excellence for Limb Lengthening and Reconstructions at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
  • Todd Ritzman, MD, Director of Education of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Akron Children's Hospital, Surgeon Director of The Austen Bioskills Lab at Akron Children's Hospital
  • Jon Schoenecker, MD, PhD, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
  • Bryan Tompkins, MD, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Spokane in Washington.
