Alphega Pharmacy UK Members Earn More Points at First Quality Payments Scheme (QPS) Review Point

Posted on: 16 Apr 18

Alphega Pharmacy UK members on its highest membership scheme have come out on top in the 2017/18 Quality Payment Scheme (QPS), claiming on average 8.4 points more than non-Alphega Pharmacy independent pharmacies. This equates to a minimum of £537.60 in addition to the average payments received to a pharmacy. All other Alphega Pharmacy UK members on average claimed 4.3 points more than non-Alphega Pharmacy independent pharmacies. This equates to a minimum of £275.20 in addition to the average payments received to a pharmacy.

The QPS became part of the community pharmacy contract in England in December 2016, and through the scheme, each community pharmacy can earn a minimum of £6,400 for meeting quality payments’ criteria.

Alphega Pharmacy UK and its experts provided its members with a range of support mechanisms to help them fully understand the scheme.  Practical, easily accessible, accurate and easy-to-understand advice on how to achieve the criteria and as such enjoy optimum benefits was offered.

The company’s QPS Action Plan contained all the information pharmacists needed, in a “one-stop shop”, to maximise their QPS income.

With simple language and a consistent user-friendly layout, the complicated requirements for completing QPS were made simpler and easier. Each section contained a simple overview of the subject matter, links to websites with further information, and templates to submit information and data for each of the criteria pharmacists need to meet to access this vital QPS funding. For additional convenience, the Action Plan was also made available electronically through the QPS app on the Alphega tablet. Further member support including informative webcasts was also provided through the Alphega Pharmacy member’s intranet site.

Finally, dedicated to member support and giving a personal touch, Alphega Pharmacy UK also put on a QPS roadshow, focused on how to meet the standards required for Healthy Living Pharmacy and other innovative support the business can provide.

A delighted Alphega Pharmacy UK member, Subhash Patel, Central Pharmacy, Esher said: ‘The support Alphega Pharmacy UK provided throughout the duration of the Quality Payments Scheme was invaluable in helping me reach the maximum 100 points. The Action Plan on the Alphega tablet gave clear and concise instructions on how to achieve each of the criteria and the evening roadshow made becoming a Healthy Living Pharmacy a far less ominous task.’

Bahader Mann, Regional Director, Alphega Pharmacy Europe said: “It’s fantastic to see Alphega Pharmacy members perform so well through the QPS process. We are very proud of the way we supported our members, particularly those on our highest membership scheme, who received more visits from their business mentors. The impressive scores achieved are testament to the continued support Alphega Pharmacy provides its members. Now that it has been announced that the QPS will continue in the coming months, we will once again provide support to our members and help them to attain as many points as they can.”
