SAN DIEGO, July 16, 2018

SAN DIEGO, July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- MedCrypt, a medical device cybersecurity technology provider, is proud to announce the hiring of Vidya Murthy as vice president of operations. Vidya will be responsible for business development, strategic support and expansion activities as the company continues to enhance its cryptographic technology used to secure data sent to and from medical devices.

Vidya joins MedCrypt from medical device manufacturer Becton Dickinson, where she served as senior manager of cybersecurity, specifically focused on maturing the security posture around electronic personal health information (ePHI) management obtained as part of ongoing business. In addition to fielding customer questions in this area, her global team established and grew risk assessment management protocols for information technology initiatives.

"Vidya's dedication to people and product development, combined with her experience in the field of healthcare cybersecurity, is exactly what MedCrypt needs to accelerate our growth," said MedCrypt CEO and co-founder, Mike Kijewski. "She is diligent and resourceful, and we couldn't be more excited about her joining the team."

Vidya joins MedCrypt as a recent graduate of the Wharton MBA program, where she focused on entrepreneurship and strategy.

The medtech industry requires additional cybersecurity measures to be taken, particularly after the FDA cybersecurity guidance release, which increased security requirements for medical devices in the U.S. MedCrypt's solution secures device and patient data with just a few lines of code. Despite cyber initiatives across the medical device industry, the response from industry groups to the Request For Information from the House Energy and Commerce Committee demonstrates a need for enhanced support in this space.
