CLEVELAND, July 17, 2018

CLEVELAND, July 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Global demand for prefillable syringes is forecast to rise 9.0% annually to $7.9 billion in 2021, expanding to 7% of total pharmaceutical packaging sales. Expanding applications in the administration of critical care, emergency, and self-injectable parenteral medication will promote gains, while advances in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and other advanced drug delivery technologies will increase the range of pharmaceuticals adaptable to prefillable syringe packaging. These and other trends are presented in Global Pharmaceutical Packaging, 12th Edition, a new study from The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland-based industry research firm.

More information about this study is here:

Disposable injectors will make up the largest share of prefillable syringe demand, accounting for 73% in 2021. Disposable injectors remain popular, as they enable medical professionals to provide drug therapy quickly in life-threatening and other emergency situations, and eliminate cross contamination risks associated with preparing injections from vials and ampuls.

Global demand for all pharmaceutical packaging is anticipated to increase 6.0% per year to $112 billion in 2021, similar to its 2011-2016 performance. Rising levels of acute and chronic conditions and trends promoting preventive medicine and self-treatment activities will support demand.
