An accomplished chemical pathologist, Dr. Donaldson recently retired following nearly half a century of dedication to the practice of medicine, research and education. Born in 1936, Dr. Donaldson is a native of Birmingham, England. After developing an initial interest in chemistry at King Edward's High School, he proceeded to explore biology and physics. Dr. Donaldson completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, through the University of Birmingham in 1959. Following a brief stint as a house physician and house surgeon, he accepted a position as a senior house officer in clinical pathology with Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Throughout the next few years, Dr. Donaldson served as a registrar in general medicine before launching a career as an educator in chemical pathology. Prior to his retirement, his most recent teaching position was as a lecturer in clinical biochemistry with the London South Bank University from 1997 to 2011. Between 1984 and 2006, Dr. Donaldson worked as a consultant in chemical pathology with the BUPA Gatwick Park Hospital.

A respected voice in the medical community, Dr. Donaldson is credited as the author of "Psychiatric Disorders with a Biochemical Basis," and as a co-author of "Diagnostic Function Tests in Chemical Pathology" and "Essential Diagnostic Tests in Biochemistry and Haematology", among many other publications. In addition to contributing numerous chapters to books and articles to professional journals, he also served as the deputy honorary editor and was a member of the editorial board of The Journal of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health between 1997 and 2004. Dr. Donaldson has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
