BANGALORE, INDIA (30 July, 2018) - George Clinical, a leading CRO in the Asia-Pacific region, including India, has welcomed the ongoing efforts of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CSDCO) of India to improve timelines and submission approval rates.  2017-2018 has seen a significant rise in the number of clinical trial approvals – 178 in 2017 compared to 84 in 2016.

The average time for approval of Clinical trial applications has also reduced significantly from about 6-7 months in 2016 to average 4 months in 2017-2018. This change is predominantly due to the restructure of the approval process from a three-tier to a one-tier review process.

"It is an exciting time to consider India part of any clinical trial strategy," Vanaja Krishnan, Managing Director of George Clinical, India said. "With the issues of earlier this decade now behind us, the ongoing positive interventions of the CSDCO has made the India R&D sector one of the most dynamic and attractive in the region.”

With Medical infrastructure in urban India comparable to the global average, with increased standards of care, the high rate of subject recruitment and a treatment-naïve patient pool, India offers a high standard of productive clinical trial sites and highly trained and qualified investigators.

"George Clinical has over ten years' experience working in India," Ms Krishnan added. "The organization has seen through one of the most dynamic sector developments in living memory, and is well placed as an authority on the clear benefits of embracing one of the world's most populous countries as an integral part of a sponsor's clinical trial strategy."
