SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 5th Annual Emerald Conference, the longest running and most technical conference in the cannabis and hemp industries, will be held from Feb. 27 to March 1, 2019, at Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, Calif. The conference brings together top scientists, extraction and cultivation professionals, and visionary business leaders in a collaborative environment that fosters groundbreaking advancements.

Emerald Conference was created five years ago to address the need for a forum in which leading members of the scientific community could exchange ideas and discuss advancements in the rapidly evolving cannabis space. Adult use cannabis is now legal in 10 states, while medical cannabis is legal in 33. Legal cannabis is set to hit $75 billion in sales by 2030, according to a note from analysts at the investment bank Cowen.

John Abrams, Ph.D., Scientific Director of the Emerald Conference, said, "This conference offers an innovative environment that continues to attract the brightest minds in our industry. I was thrilled to accept this role to further support the conference's position as the preeminent scientific conference in the industry and internationally. I have been working closely with each Session Chair to curate and develop content that supports groundbreaking research and advancements in technology."

Emerald Conference covers genomics, chemotyping, pre-clinical/clinical research, formulations, testing and extraction. Presentations and posters at Emerald Conference are subject to a peer review process, ensuring the latest and most relevant content. The proceedings of the conference will be published annually.

Reggie Guadino, President of Steep Hill Labs and former event keynote speaker, said, "In one central platform you have everyone coming together, talking to each other and learning together so that the industry can become a better place. It's the conference for people looking to invest in technology and put together a program that will help them succeed in the cannabis industry."

This year's keynote speakers will include Todd Scattini, Global CEO of Harvest 360, on Feb. 28, and Robert Martin, Ph. D., CEO of CW Analytical, on Feb. 29.

New this year, Emerald Conference created the Emerald Classic Golf Tournament, a charity event that benefits a non-profit cannabis organization. This year's beneficiary is the Veterans Cannabis Project, and the event will take place Feb. 27 at Coronado Golf Course.
