ProClinical is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Patient Access for a medical technology and device company based in Germany on a permanent basis. The Senior Manager, Patient Access and Market Development develops and implements initiatives and activities which successfully communicate clinical and economic evidence supporting company technologies and services, including analytics, assessment of policy impacts, development of customer, investor, and payer facing economic tools, and commercial value messaging. The Senior Manager will also engage in payer and government focused lobbying and advocacy efforts in conjunction with KOLs and distributors in target regions. Working in collaboration with other members of the Patient Access team, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, investors, and external consultants, the Senior Manager establishes patient access and strategic market development goals to drive reimbursement, ensure share of market and profitability of products and services.

Job Responsibilties:

  • Build and maintain advanced understanding of EIMEA healthcare market mechanisms, payer and provider trends, health policy, medical technology, and reimbursement trends in order to inform strategic decision making with respect to payer strategies and advocacy needs
  • Develop value-based strategies to obtain or protect reimbursement for company technologies (e.g. direct contracting) to support installed base, strategically important growth markets, and in accordance with the the company’s Product Roadmap
  • In collaboration with EIMEA business unit identify and develop projects for investors and other stakeholders to purchase company technologies
  • Enable investors and other stakeholders to implement investment, procurement, and construction projects
  • Work with other members of the Patient Access team and other company departments to identify, support, and develop strategic accounts and new markets
  • Encourage current and future Investors to extend business and further acquire company technologies and services, looking to develop additional innovative market approaches
  • Work with other Patient Access team members to develop customer, investor, and payer focused tools that feature economic, market trend, and competitive analysis data to demonstrate the company’s Advantage
  • Identify data/evidence gaps for each priority product, and work with team to design value-based selling strategies to fill gaps in order to support market access, reimbursement, and brand strategies
  • Direct the work of outside consultants to accomplish the goals of the organization, including lobby governments and payers to protect or obtain reimbursement in strategically important markets
  • Develop relationships and work closely with key knowledge and opinion leaders (KOLs) and academic researchers throughout the advocacy and research/dissemination cycle
  • Continually refine the understanding of company products and brand strategies, and the value propositions needed to support these strategies
  • Educate the company on key principles of healthcare policy and economics, payer decision, investor strategies and other concepts within the discipline of patient access, and strategic market development

Skills and Requirements:

  • BS or BA degree required (MA, MBA, MS or equivalent a plus). Degrees preferred in the areas of biomedical HEOR, technology assessment, health policy, reimbursement or related field and a minimum 7 years of experience in reimbursement and 10 years of experience in the healthcare field, ideally with innovative, high cost, high technology products
  • Advanced understanding of and ability to use evidence to support value propositions
  • Understanding of public and commercial payers, technology assessment bodies, and government funding processes. Relevant knowledge of and experience in emerging markets is a plus
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to develop positive business relationships with all functional areas within the company as well as the medical community and company customers
  • Effective presentation skills are required; knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
  • Must understand the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Customer-focused; must have knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Strong results orientation and ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional EIMEA language is desired.
