We are recruiting for our Early Compound Development team in Harrogate and are currently seeking to hire a Scientist to help support the Immunology and Immunotoxicology department by providing technical support for the planning and directing of method development projects/studies in compliance with appropriate SOPs.

This is a full time position.

About the Job

Within this position, your duties will include:
Provides technical support for the planning and directing of method development projects/studies in compliance with appropriate SOPs, Study Documentation and regulatory guidelines. Develops, modifies, validates, and performs methodology for routine and/or non-routine Immunotoxicology analyses.
Be responsible for the efficient development and transfer of analytical methods within the relevant assigned discipline for Immunology and Immunotoxicology , including day-to-day monitoring and supervision of analyst's work and ensuring procedures are scientifically robust and that they meet client requirements. The job holder will also work with Study Directors (SD) and other Responsible Analysts (RA) on GLP and GCP studies as a main point of contact for analysts and clients, taking responsibility for ensuring studies meet regulatory requirements and client deadlines.

You will also:

- Participate in any global Instrumentation and software purchase and any validation work within the Immunology and Immunotoxicology group.
- Ensures that the study is performed in accordance with the study protocol and the Covance standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that the study is performed to the required scientific and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of UK/OECD GLP and GCP regulations as applicable, Responsible Analyst roles and responsibilities.
- Negotiate on agreed times with Study Direction, Study Management and Departmental Management and communicate study status and proactively anticipate problems that may affect timing, quality etc taking appropriate action to resolve such problems.
- Collaborate with clients, Study Direction, Study Management and Departmental Management to produce an effective study design and ensure that all study communication is maintained and carried out to meet client requirements.
- Participate in the production and study protocols within the relevant assigned discipline for Immunology and Immunotoxicology.
- Research and development for new assays and applications including set–up analysis, training and implementation of validation plans across appropriate sites within the relevant assigned discipline. Assess the feasibility for other sites. Attendance at conferences and seminars
- Responsible for ensuring Assays and Analytical Procedures are maintained including the management of the process, reagents and controls
- Demonstrates knowledge of client requirements and plans accordingly (timelines, critical deadlines etc). Provide analysis, analytical interpretation, discussion and report data.
- Provides client feedback to the relevant teams.
- Produces Analytical Procedures (AP)/Working Documents (WD), study specific procedures and SOP's as appropriate to meet study and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively manages study changes to meet timelines and ensure all additional costs are captured.
- To ensure that all studies are archived according to current SOP.
- Develop and implement problem solving solutions for out of specification assay or instrument performance within studies and perform troubleshooting.
- Interacts with support areas globally.
- Responsible for on time delivery targets (AP/WD and results).
- Responsible for the scheduling of all resources (people, equipment and materials) for method development, research and development and validation of assays and equipment. Provide information for e-scheduling population
- Evaluates existing departmental and global procedures and systems and participates in process improvements.
- Develops teamwork with the global study teams
- Supports and encourages the development and of team members and staff selection
- Interaction with external/internal client. Communication either T-con face 2 face or in client meetings
- Facilitate client collaboration on projects at a scientific level at the appropriate facility

About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to hold a degree (PhD preferred), or equivalent degree in immunology, immunotoxicology or related field
- Have a minimum of 2 years working Experience within the relevant assigned discipline
- Computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety policies, Company Policies and Procedures, a working knowledge of ISO (accreditation and application), and an in-depth understanding of GLP and GCP.
- Be able to communicate effectively at all levels with other Covance employees, as well as external clients, suppliers, etc.
