What does it mean to work for the Data Privacy Office at PRA?

The Senior Privacy Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection will provide practical and timely advice on innovative uses of personal data.  You will be part of a growing team that has executive support in advancing PRA’s data privacy compliance program.  The organization and the Chief Privacy Officer are professionally and personally invested in your career development.  This will be demonstrated by supporting privacy conferences/CLEs, staying in the know on important business initiatives.  You will work in a relatively flat organizational structure where traditional corporate bureaucracies are limited.

You will build a sustainable and practical privacy compliance program that will serve as a model for others to follow.  You will serve as a valued and trusted subject matter expert to all levels of PRA and seen as a business enabler on cutting edge privacy issues.  You will work in an environment where the goal is to provide proactive support rather than deal with endless fire drills.  You will learn a great deal about the various business units of PRA and will build collaborative relationships.  If you are looking for a chance to be a part of a great organization at the right time, this is your opportunity.

The Senior Privacy Counsel will be a member of the Privacy & Data Protection team whose other members are in the US and will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel regarding privacy and data protection matters for PRA on a global basis. This position also will provide support to other legal teams, including the IP & Vendor Contracts team, with reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy/data protection terms in a variety of contracts and legal documents for compliance with applicable laws and the firm’s practices and standards. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the privacy/data protection laws of the US and/or EU. Knowledge of the privacy/data protection laws of APAC countries is a plus, but not required.

The Senior Privacy Counsel provides advice to all business units regarding privacy and data protection matters, including those arising from new product initiatives or new legal requirements. Business units supported include customer-facing business lines plus internal business lines, such as Enterprise Risk, HR, and IT. Advises on issues around collecting, sharing and accessing personal information, marketing to customers, and providing and honoring “opt-in/opt-out” choices. Provides management and business units with advice concerning new or changed laws and regulations and assists with assessing potential impacts to the firm. Works collaboratively with business units on how to implement privacy and data protection requirements and best practices, including assistance with drafting and reviewing policies and procedures. Serves as a representative on various firm-wide committees or working groups that deal with privacy, data governance, and/or technology matters. Provides advice regarding all phases of data incidents, including investigation, remediation, and notice to impacted parties and/or regulators.

The Senior Privacy Counsel provides support to other legal teams, including the IP & Vendor Contracts team, with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating privacy/data protection terms in a variety of contracts and legal documents for compliance with applicable laws and the firm’s practices and standards.
