To support and grow an International Market Access capability for KKI; involving actively participating in developing, shaping and executing a global pricing and market access strategy for the EU predominantly, and the US to a lesser extent, across the product range with emphasis on a pipeline of emerging rare disease and oncology assets.

Requirements:

Kyowa Kirin International (KKI), in partnership with Ultragenyx, is launching burosumab, a flagship orphan asset targeting X-Linked Hypophosphatemia. This is the first product from our robust pipeline of rare disease candidates.   

With demonstrated impressive clinical activity, burosumab has already been submitted for conditional approval with the European Medicines Agency with launch anticipated in early 2018.

This product together with an ever expanding development portfolio, including a post phase 3 oncology rare disease asset is creating major growth opportunity for the Group and we have a need to hire a brand new Global Market Access Rare Disease Director, to be a key player in the company’s transformation.

The Role

To support and grow an International Market Access capability for KKI; involving actively participating in developing, shaping and executing a global pricing and market access strategy for the EU predominantly, and the US to a lesser extent, across the product range with emphasis on a pipeline of emerging rare disease and oncology assets.

 Key responsibilities: 

  • Be an active part of designing & shaping the company’s overall global price and market access strategy mainly for EU, USA and other potential markets outside Asia
  • Build strong global reimbursement dossiers with value propositions that can be adapted at local level
  • Work with local Affiliates to develop and maintain an understanding of the evolving access environments and translate this into strategies for our product portfolios
  • Develop a global pricing policy to lever opportunities that maximize profitability across the company
  • Engage the affiliates in executing the global pricing policy and support them with appropriate tools in order to maximize product value
  • Work with external vendors and Health Economists to generate necessary evidence and develop relevant HE models
  • Develop and execute appropriate pricing strategy for Early Access programmes
  • Develop strong positive external relationships with payer experts, therapy opinion leaders and academia
  • Influence decision making in alignment with supporting evidence
  • Analyse Business Development opportunities for coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer policies, pricing and potential barriers to patient access
  • Support early engagement with EMA and the FDA and interface with Clinical on their programmes to ensure appropriate outcomes data for payers

 Candidate Profile:

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HTA and P&R strategies in Europe
  • Experience in market access in the rare disease space, particularly in Europe
  • Ideally understands the specifics of market access in Oncology
  • Ability to digest, interpret and simplify the communication of clinical data
  • Developed and delivered international value tools: GVD, value messaging etc.
  • Working understanding, and ideally experience in health economics: models and analytics, utility derivation, costing, etc.
  • Strong project management skills to ensure teams / external vendors deliver against the above objectives
  • Personal ‘leadership gravitas’ / presence to represent the International team in discussions with regional and affiliate management from a market access perspective
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-country pricing and reimbursement roles
  • Therapeutic experience in rare disease/oncology preferred
  • Global launch experience
  • Experience with Early Access programmes
  • Comfortable with generating and interpreting large amounts of diverse data
