Job Summary:

Purpose: As a Team Lead Safety Department you will be in charge of leading the Pharmacovigilance operations and the Drug Safety Team in collaboration with the global headquarters as well as local health authorities. In this highly visible position, you well be reporting directly to the Country Manager and play an important role of shaping the future of the affiliate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with the Global Pharmacovigilance & Epidemiology (GPE) policies and with local Pharmacovigilance (PV) regulations
  • Ensures that global company group procedures are implemented, documented and followed locally
  • Being accountable for keeping the global headquarters aware of any future changes in local PV regulations
  • Ensures timely completion of audit and inspection observations in close interaction with Global /Local Functions
  • Being nominated as local Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV)
  • Ensure full compliance with local and global safety regulations as required by local and regional health authorities (HA)
  • Supports local safety surveillance activities by looking at and monitoring event frequencies / severity at local level
  • Is recognized as the key leader for all PV related activities on country level, including case management, compliance, risk management and risk mitigation, patient support programs and market research programs in adherence with HA regulations and corporate policies
  • Builds close relationships with the in-country partner functions, including but not limited to Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, BU functions and Country Chair
  • Leads the team of currently two PV Managers
  • Manages budget and resources
  • The Team Lead Safety Department is a permanent member of the country council



Qualifications and Experience:

  • Medical doctor, Pharmacist, Doctor of Pharmacy or educational background in Health Sciences
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • At least 1-2 years of extensive pharmacovigilance/drug safety work
  • Professional fluency in German, French and English is a must
  • Expertise of Swiss pharmacovigilance legal environment / Swiss Medic and international regulations
  • Sufficient clinical interpretational skills based on limited information provided along with understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience working within an international company with a complex organizational environment with pharmacovigilance systems and safety related product management
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills, sense of urgency, especially with respect to enforcing safety rules and global procedures as described in Quality Documents, Operational Manuals and Guidance documents
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a challenging environment with sometimes conflicting priorities trough an engaging and motivating leadership style





  • In this function, a high amount of complexity has to be managed with very tight deadlines. Multitasking is necessary every day
  • Effective problem solving strategies needs to be put in place and reviewed on a continuous basis
  • The above challenges are effectively managed through strong leadership, medical expertise, effective time management skills and strong communication skills to foster collaboration with the business units
