With over 495 permanent employees in the UK and Ireland, we operate within vibrant and growing markets providing innovative and complex healthcare solutions in an ever changing business environment.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced leader to head up our Engineering  Function as UK Technical Services Manager.  With a direct reporting line to our Director of Technical Services, you will be a member of the Technical Services leadership team and play a critical role shaping the future direction of the Engineering Team and the Technical Services Function as a whole.

In this role, you will lead a team of regional technical managers and 60+ field services engineers whose mission is to provide excellent field service support to all our laboratory clients.  This will require you to assess our customer technical needs and develop service strategies to drive a culture of service excellence, resource optimisation and continuous improvement.

Together with the Technical Services Director you will actively develop short and long term strategies in order to drive operational excellence and support future growth & resilience of the Engineering function.

This is a UK field based position and you may reside in mainland UK within easy reach of major transport links. You will be expected to travel throughout England, Wales and Scotland with regular visits to our Head Offices in Burgess Hill.

Who you are

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.

Required Skills and Experience:

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in the field of engineering/electronics.

You will have experience of leading a complex technical service organisation – ideally in the medical device industry. Good working knowledge of quality and regulatory guidelines is essential.

With in-depth knowledge of troubleshooting medical devices you will bring a high degree of technical service expertise to the position.  You will have a proven track record in identifying and resolving critical technical and complex procedural issues applying lean & other business process improvement techniques.

Outstanding communication skills are essential with the ability to communicate credibly at all levels within Technical Services; influence key stakeholders in a highly complex cross-functional environment and build collaborative relationships with the Sales Teams in order to ensure seamless sales / service alignment.

Specific critical attributes to your success in the position include:

• Effective leadership skills to build, coach and motivate a high performance technical service team, while holding the team accountable for results.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to drive change and continuous service excellence within a complex, rapidly changing NHS environment.
• Be inspiring and able to win hearts and minds internally.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to present recommendations and ideas and to summarize complex critical issues.
• Ability to lead and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.

Investing in you

What this means for you is, not only a competitive salary and benefits package, but also a recognised product training programme and continuous support to build on your knowledge, skills and potential, helping you prepare for the exciting opportunities for further career development.

All of which has gained Roche 2017 Top Employer status in the UK and Europe.
