Location: Berkshire

Salary: £40,000-£45,000

Position: Full-time office based

This is a perfect opportunity to join an innovative and award-winning healthcare communications agency located Berkshire. As Senior Scientific Editor you will be the gate-keeper responsible for the Scientific Services and Editorial teams. You will ensure that all scientific and medical materials are accurate and precise by providing editing and proof reading support. You will manage and coordinate materials through studio to print ready stage including consideration of style and layout. As Senior Scientific Editor, you will be part of an established healthcare communications agency that invest heavily in training and provide all staff with the opportunity to attend international congresses

Responsibilities:

* Data checking documents and marking up references
* Uploading content and marked-up references to client review platforms including Veeva, Zinc and Data Vision
* Set up and ensure maintenance of appropriate filing systems and databases, ensure a proficient user and deliver specific training as appropriate
* Ensure adherence to scientific and editorial SOPs and proactively recommend improvements to teams
* Undertake specific writing projects, e.g. development of biographies and, where appropriate, incorporate straight forward client/author comments (under the direction of a Medical Writer)
* Manage and coordinate materials through studio to print-ready stage, including consideration of style, layout, design, colour, formatting, compliance and proofreading
* Proactively liaise with the Client Services team to ensure incoming comments on studio work are actioned/managed by the Medical Writer (as appropriate) in a timely manner
* Keep up-to-date on new developments within the medical education industry, e.g. innovative design options and branding, MedComms Networking for latest updates in publication planning
* Working knowledge of copyright law and procedures

Qualifications:

* At least four years of medical/scientific editing experience at a medical communications agency
* At least two years of medical/scientific editing experience in a reputable publishing house and one year of experience at a medical communications agency
* Proficiency in use of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and specialist software, including End Note, Data Vision, Veeva and Zinc
* Organisational skills and ability to multitask
* Coaching/mentoring skills
* Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
