Job Summary:

An amazing opportunity has arisen at a very well-regarded medical communications agency who are looking for a Principal Medical Writer to join their teams in London or Oxford.



This agency is part of one of the largest networks in the world and they take a very integrated approach as they work alongside advertising, medical education, digital and market access team. Most of the accounts they work on are Global and EU focused, they never really soley focus just on UK accounts. The main therapy areas include: Oncology, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Nutrition and Smoking Cessation. This agency has high staff retention as they offer a non-hierarchal structure and employee’s normally get the chance to work on 2-3 accounts at one time. The agency is offering career progression, training and has a very high staff satisfaction rate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Delivering strategic and scientific value to key accounts.
  • Leading outstanding content of promotional and non-promotional medical education activities, based on a thorough understanding of the disease area, client strategy and needs.
  • Responsible for highlighting and developing scientific opportunities in key accounts.
  • Works alongside the Leadership team to identify and develop core modules to train and mentor Medical Writers.
  • Providing creative solutions to deliver scientific content in compelling and impactful educational formats.
  • Being the lead contact with clients regarding scientific insight and content.
  • Identifies and highlights new business opportunities with client accounts through a thorough understanding of the needs.

Key Skills: 

  • You will have solid medical writing skills and experience, as you will be responsible not only for the quality of your own editorial work but for providing advice and guidance to other writers and the wider agency.
  • You should have client-facing experience and be comfortable developing and maintaining client relationships (client facing will be optional).
  • You should hold a bachelor’s degree ideally in the life sciences possibly also with a Master’s degree or a PhD.
  • Ideally you will be office based but we are flexible and allow some home working where possible.
