In this role, you will ensure compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs and regulatory agency guidelines as you independently drafts analytical and scientific reports and interact with all global laboratories, global customer service, and Global Medical and Technical affairs.  

This is a full time permanent position based in our Geneva/Meyrin office.

What does a medical writer do

  • Demonstrates proficiency/expertise in assigned tasks.
  • Monitor and report individual performance metrics and take corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Liaises with departmental level Liaisons as needed.
  • Based on business need, supports colleagues as requested.
  • Individual is responsible for maintaining his/her complete up-to-date training file. Individual is responsible for ensuring he/she is trained and training is documented prior to performing a task. Individual is accountable for any deficiencies found in his/her training file
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement, quality and productivity
  • Provide a monthly report to the GLSS management.

Other duties as assigned

  • Independently drafts analytical and scientific reports, using pre-defined templates or client-supplied information.
  • Reviews final reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Proactively communicates and interacts with the Laboratory Science team, other departments and clients as applicable.
  • Serves as the primary contact in communication and interaction with other departments and clients as applicable.
  • Develops new report/table formats as needed, including client specific formatting. Maintains and updates existing templates as necessary.
  • Plans, prioritizes and manages own workload and multiple responsibilities.
  • Provides input on and assists with implementation of template changes and enhancements.
  • Identifies process improvement to increase the efficiency of daily/routine procedures.
  • Responsible for report preparation, including table and figure preparation. Compiles analytical information from laboratory groups.
  • Maintains well-documented, organized and up-to-date report files.
  • Reviews client comments and makes necessary changes, to ensure that all reports are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for and drives report production processes through finalization, including archival of reports as appropriate.
  • Actively promotes a team environment.
  • Management of report transfer to clients as requested.
  • Assists in monitoring report progress.
  • Reviews work of others for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness and soundness of judgment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this position, you will need to hold a professional degree/designations/certifications/licenses (Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science or related field. MT, ASCP preferred)

  • >5 years experience in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to utilize Word processing software and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Skilled in concise writing. Writing should require minimal external review or edit.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in clinical laboratory medicine;
  • Previous experience in writing technical documents;
  • Previous experience in preparing data for technical presentation for Scientists.
  • Knowledge of commonly used laboratory statistical measures (mean, coefficient of variation, standard deviation).
  • Skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excell and Power Point.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time.
  • Excellent command in English both oral and written
