Our client is a digital publisher in the pharmaceutical space who are seeking a Channel Editor to join their team in their offices in West Byfleet, Surrey.

Our client is a digital publisher in the pharmaceutical space who are seeking a Channel Editor to join their team in their offices in West Byfleet, Surrey.

Under the direction and support of the publications director, the role will involve managing assigned digital channels on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the successful management and delivery of your channels, including content aligned to the editorial calendar and supporting ongoing implementation and development of the editorial strategy.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to move towards a Managing Editor role as you will be writing copy for both editorial and commercially led purposes. This includes writing daily news pieces, regular feature articles and content requested by clients, ranging from standard articles and white papers to press releases and ‘e-shot’ mailers. The role also supports the promotion of commercial projects such as live tweeting, live blogging at conferences and writing sponsored articles and features.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of a minimum of assigned digital channels, helping to build the channels in terms of content, and alignment to the editorial and commercial strategies
  • Writing and developing content (news stories, features etc.)
  • Liaising with clients / media contacts to help build relationships through editorial coverage and present opportunities for business development leads for the commercial teams
  • Attending conferences and events where relevant to the business
  • Uploading content onto website / social media
  • Supporting live coverage of events e.g. live tweeting, live blogging
  • Support the moderation of live industry debates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Educated to degree level in a life science or journalism
  • Previous experience of working in a healthcare communications environment as a writer/journalist/copywriter, ideally with experience of web content
  • Excellent editing and writing skills in English with a demonstrable portfolio of published work
  • Proven experience of proof reading and sub-editing to a professional standard
  • Experience of working with content management systems, ideally Word Press
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google
  • Good communication skills, including ability to liaise with clients and potential interviewees for editorial articles
  • Creative mind, confident, energetic and enthusiastic
