  • Genuinely cutting edge technology based on solid science. These guys are not a “met too” and have their own technology platform which has produced compounds amounting to 10 ongoing clinical studies so far.
  • Their technology and delivery mechanism has allowed them to pursue a number of ley therapeutics areas of high potential with ongoing studies within oncology, rare diseases and infectious diseases.
  • They are very well funded and led by a leadership team with proven success in the building of successful biotech companies, totalling multiple billion dollar deals between them. The CEO has also been recognized as one of the leading figures in the North American biotech scene and is widely known as not only an astute business builder, but also a genuine, caring leader.

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Operations Director/Head of Clinical Operations. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will be responsible for the clinical operations strategy and overall delivery of all clinical studies across multiple therapeutic areas. As mentioned earlier, these are oncology, rare diseases and infectious diseases.

You will have line management responsibilities for the clinical operations team consisting of CPM’s, clinical support staff, monitors, data managements and bioanalytical sample management. The team currently consists of 6 members of staff, expected to grow to at least 11 in the next 12 months. You will ensure that all clinical studies are conducted compliant with GCP guidelines and according to the planned timelines and budget. You will also be responsible for the oversight of and interactions with CRO’s and other external vendors. You will work across all disciplines to develop capabilities, processes and systems within Clin Ops to grow in line with the company.


  • You will set the vision and strategic direction for the clin ops group in line with the company direction and business plan.
  • You will proactively oversee employee development (including providing training, feedback, motivation, reward, recognition and career development)
  • Relationship management of both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring everybody is in alignment
  • Design and implement appropriate innovative procedures and SOP’s related to clinical study development and execution. Ensure understanding of all processes, policies and procedures related to Clin Ops; provide training and education to support established processes, policies and procedures.
  • Enhance efficiency of the clin ops group through ongoing process improvement
  • Responsible for the oversight of day to day clinical operations. Ensure cross-functional, integrated study plans for start up, execution and reporting. Drive budget planning and tracking for the clinical study portfolio. Ensure study teams are staffed correctly. Responsible for quality management including outsourced activities. Establish KPI’s and other tools to monitor overall performance.
  • Oversee CRO selection and negotiate contracts and budgets with external service providers
  • When needed, participate in and lead clinical project teams.
