Our client is a young Healthcare Communications Agency with offices in Europe and North America. They offer a wide variety of communications services for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and animal health companies.

Our client is a young Healthcare Communications Agency with offices in Europe and North America. They offer a wide variety of communications services for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and animal health companies.

They currently have a requirement for Principal Medical Writer to work in their London office. You will hold responsibility for complex written documents, editorial account management, client relations, communications strategy, and management of designated editorial team members. You will work closely with the Associate Directors/Directors to contribute to strategic business development and client relationship management and act as an expert in offering counsel to clients on complex editorial and scientific issues.

Editorial:

  • Oversee the research and writing of materials and ensure quality control for finished product delivery across multiple client programmes
  • Oversee and contribute to the design and development of medical educational materials and complex clinical presentations with appropriate audience engagement across multiple therapy areas
  • Review written scientific documents for writing style, strategy and content accuracy
  • Ensure appropriate on-site editorial support at client events, such as Advisory Boards and Congresses
  • Consulting:
  • Lead formal client meetings to establish and maintain relationship of trust with the client and oversee the management and resolution of any issues
  • Oversee and contribute to the planning of creative events and programmes, and supervise their implementation
  • Support the Directors in managing large and demanding client briefs and budgets, including assisting with communications planning, strategy formulation, writing and client counsel
  • Contribute to post-project/account reviews with a Director and the team
  • Team Management:
  • Build client teams, including bringing relevant resources onto team from throughout the company and the broader network
  • Line manage members of the internal team, and freelancers within the designated editorial team
  • Oversee workload among designated editorial team members and delegate appropriately ensuring time and budget guidelines are adhered to

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Life science degree, preferably higher degree
  • Previous medical writing experience gained in a healthcare communications agency environment
  • Advanced strategic writing skills with an excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and balance multiple priorities and demands
  • Excellent presentation skills with an ability to facilitate internal and external meetings
  • Proven client relationship capabilities
  • Team player
