Job purpose:
This position provides commercial contracting and legal project management support to the business in the Global Service Centre in Dublin. You will be working in a growing service centre for a pharma industry leader, in a fast paced and diverse environment. You will be part of a small team working globally where you will have opportunities for development and career progression. This role is not an in-house solicitor/legal counsel position and does not require prior qualification as a solicitor, it is however an excellent early-career opportunity to gain valuable legal industry exposure at a global level, as well as exposure to regulatory and legal frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be part of a global team delivering negotiation, execution and management of commercial contracts especially clinical trial contracts.
• Responsible for commercial and clinical trial contracting for PLS Interventional and Non-Interventional Studies (90%)
• Act as first point of contact for Clinical Project Managers (“CPMs”) in Dublin and Hyderabad and for CRO legal teams in relation to escalations of legal queries
• Create and enforce guidelines for CROS in relation to Novartis clinical trial contracting requirements;
• Facilitate the on-boarding of CRO legal teams and ensure Novartis guidelines are communicated and understood;
• Support the execution of letters of authorization and letters of indemnification by:
• Aligning with CRO colleagues on the execution requirements
• Liaising with colleagues in Basel for the execution of letters of authorization and letters of indemnification;
• Review and amend clinical site agreements where they do not meet the Novartis Minimum Contracting Principles
• Review additional local legal documentation where requested by CRO or Investigators;
• Monitor clinical trial agreement review periods and timelines for the execution of documentation;
• Contribute to PLSS workshops and on boarding sessions for CPMs;
• Conduct bi-weekly / bi-monthly sessions with CPMs in Dublin and Hyderabad depending on the demands of each individual trial to ensure any queries or outstanding items are addressed;
• Update CRO training deck to incorporate new learnings and clinical trial contracting in practice.
• Share and apply updates from Novartis Global organisation related to clinical trial guidelines, governance and regulatory framework
• Manage other standard contracting processes related to pharmaceutical industry such as data privacy agreements, contracts with health care professionals or health care organisations
• Legal, Data Privacy and Compliance Support (10%)
• Support the legal counsel in implementing Novartis global privacy and integrity projects;
• Prepare legal memos and summary documents on legal and statutory matters relevant to the NGSC and in particular PLS;
• Provide administrative support for the organisation and streamlining of PLS service delivery;
• Participate in the on-boarding of new associates to NGSC in relation to legal, data privacy and compliance awareness by delivering introduction to integrity and compliance sessions.

The Novartis Global Service Center (NGSC), Dublin, was set up in 2013 and is located in a state-of-the-art facility on the Merrion Road in Ballsbridge. The center, one of five around the world, delivers a broad variety of services to the Novartis divisions and organizations worldwide. Services offered by the Dublin team include scientific and commercial services, IT, HR Operations and Procurement. Minimum requirements

Requirements:
• Legal / Business Degree Fluency in English both written and verbal. Additional languages desirable.
• 1-2 years work experience in a legal, compliance or professional services environment.
• Exposure to negotiation, execution and management of commercial contracts
• Resolution of contract wording issues with variety of counterparts or across different geographies
• Solid analytical and legal skills
• Understanding of working within a regulatory framework
• Meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) for the contracting process and meets deadlines Clear and effective communication skills with senior business leaders
