Medical Science Liaison

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at Kyowa Kirin is a therapy area expert and key to enhancing and communicating complex cutting edge scientific information and research concepts of diseases supported by the Kyowa Kirin’s rare disease portfolio.

Working in collaboration with the Rare Disease Advisor, Market Access Manager and the Medical Affairs Department the MSL will help increase the field-based presence and scientific capability, working in partnership with clinicians as a resource of fair-balanced and scientifically-rigorous information.

The MSL identifies and develops strong sustainable peer to peer relationships to support the medical/scientific credibility of Kyowa Kirin and is responsible for the execution of the International Operational Strategic Plan locally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to support and enhance patient care
  • Provide oversight and liaison for such locally ongoing studies
  • Contribute with feedback/input to local and international data generation strategies, market access projects and competitive intelligence initiatives
  • Assist in the feasibility assessments for clinical development studies
  • Assist in the review and approval process of investigator sponsored studies (ISTs)
  • Develop disease management strategies in conjunction with the Business Unit and International Medical Affairs department
  • Collaborate with International Medical Affairs department to execute the affiliate-based medical strategic plans in alignment with international medical affairs strategy and therapy area objectives
  • Communicate balanced, substantiated and relevant scientific information for internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform scientific training and presentations
  • Ensure appropriate response to unsolicited scientific requests by healthcare practitioners
  • Demonstrate proactive long-term engagement with key opinion leaders, investigators and external experts
  • Develop Key Opinion Leader engagement plans and associated patient value insights and outcomes
  • Provide medical support to organize scientific events, advisory boards and company sponsored congress symposia

 

Position Requirements:

  • Relevant medical/pharmacy/nursing/bioscience experience and educational background
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, legal and compliance regulations and authorities nationally preferred
  • Knowledge of Health Economics preferred
  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs Department or Clinical Operations department
  • In-depth knowledge of local, regional and national healthcare systems and processes for allocation and delivery of care; ideally within specialized pharmaceuticals, experience with managing early access to innovative therapies
  • Track record of successful working with cross functional teams locally and internationally
  • Working experience in orphan/ultra-orphan therapy areas (preferred) and
  • Therapy area experience in Oncology/Rare Diseases/Diabetes/Immunology, as a clinician or in the industry (medical affairs/medical marketing, clinical research & development)
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to understand healthcare professional prospective and forge long term relations of mutual value
  • Must hold valid driving licence
  • Regional and International travel including time away from home (up to 50% of working time)
  • Fluency in Flemish, French and English is a requirement
