Account Director

The Account Director’s responsibility is: Maintain flow of projects from established and developing accounts, with the objective of building a strong long term relationship between Chiltern and the client and for progressing accounts to a more strategic level. Accounts are assigned to the incumbent based on their previous experience and knowledge of the sponsor. In this role, the main overall responsibilities of the position are the following:

 

  • Assist with the identification of accounts which have the potential to become global key accounts.
  • Visit new and existing clients on a regular basis with the objectives of: 1) establishing credible client relationships 2) broadening their understanding of client requirements 3) and educating clients on Chiltern’s services
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding: 1) potential studies 2) opportunities to submit proposals and budgets, 3) outcome of submitted proposals and budgets, and 4) feedback on non-awarded proposals
  • Assist with preparing and issuing accurate budgets and proposals in response to client request. This includes helping to gather necessary information from operational personnel and ensure the message to the sponsor remains consistent from business and operational contacts within Chiltern
  • Generate opportunities for repeat business with key and core accounts
  • Develop appropriate development strategies for accounts and implement them in conjunction with the Regional BD team and operational heads
  • Partner with members of global BD and country management to expand relationships with existing clients into new regions and service areas
  • Provide guidance and work direction to Inside Sales Associates, and support the development of new team members.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • BSc or BA degree in a biomedical, related life science, or business-related discipline
  • Minimum 4+ years of clinical business development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee data and information during interactions with staff at all levels
  • Proven record of successful business development within the CRO industry
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with outsourcing personnel in the pharmaceutical and / or biotechnology industries
  • In-depth understanding of the clinical trials process, as well as the different models of outsourcing and potential strategies that Chiltern can offer a sponsor
