Covance´s Early Development Commercial team is a client-centered, high-performing team, aligned around clear strategic priorities and passionately devoted on positioning a distinctive Covance brand among the Top 40 BioPharmaceutical companies, while driving long-term relationships and revenue growth.


Reporting to the Global Director Strategic Accounts, our Business Development Directors develop and establish long-term account plans, and manage their portfolio of strategic alliances, key accounts and prospective accounts:


  • Building long term sustainable relationships with strategic client decision makers.
  •  Growing market share of existing services, identifying and winning specific new business opportunities to generate profitable revenue growth.  
  • Growing market share of new service lines, achieving targeted financial goals.
  • Expanding client base and realising opportunities to meet and exceed sales.Selling non-clinical services whilst taking account of the broader Covance capabilities and differentiation framework, to develop integrated opportunities.



Strong command of spoken and written English AND French is essential. German is an added bonus.    


Educated to a Bachelors degree in life science/ business level, you bring extensive experience selling services directly to the pharmaceutical sector (mid-level and executive level decision makers).


These positions need seasoned professionals, excelling at differentiating their offering from competitors, with advanced industry knowledge and demonstrated ability to acquire and grow client base, ideally within a CRO environment.


Your experience managing strategic accounts includes: 

  • Developing and executing strategic business plans
  • Face to face negotiating of MSA´s and preferred provider agreements
  • Presenting to executives and senior levels of the client organization
  • Strong financial acumen: delivering business results in a commercial environment; budgeting; financial planning and reporting

To succeed with us, you’ll also need this passion of building long term sustainable relations as opposed to just “selling projects”. Client retention skills are key for Covance.



You will support our core European territories; specific country assignments are currently under review and will be advised upon expressions of interest by potential candidates.


These jobs are field based. We have interest in filling one of our vacancies in the UK, other in France, and other ideally in Germany, although other EU location may be considered.


Strong links with rail and air transport hubs are essential to support European travel and some US travel requirements.
