Job Summary:

The Medical Science Liaison position is a field based, non-promotional medical and scientific role. Working in partnership with their therapeutic area aligned Medical team, their key objective of the MSL is to build partnerships with external medical experts to communicate evidence based critical scientific, technical and development matters relating to specific products/compounds and the therapeutic areas they relate to

One of my main pharmaceutical strategic partner is now seeking a MSL in Ophtalmology to join an expert team. You will have exposure to an incredible range of products and will cover North England (both East and West). The ideal candidate would be a passionnate MSL who demonstrates a can-do attitude and who will build on his/her existing network.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage scientifically based relationships with clinical investigators, Medical experts and other stakeholders
  • Provide scientific information to relevant Medical experts, speakers & investigators on data
  • Facilitate and maintain legitimate scientific exchange related to specific compounds and pipeline with Medical experts, speakers and investigators
  • Provide scientific and educational information to Medical experts on specific patient critical issues, including medical education
  • Build, execute Medical experts engagement plans which proactively support the Medical plan Internal Specific Leadership across medical and cross-functional teams/ stakeholders
  • Provides proactive support for Product Development Teams & Integrated Brand Teams in providing deep market and clinical understanding of pipeline therapeutic areas
  • Gathers external insights and utilizes insights to shape Specific product strategy
  • Acts as a field-based reference point for non-promotional scientific and clinical expertise to field force and encourage self-sufficiency in the field force where feasible
  • Internal discussions and leadership related to Clinical Trials feasibility and site recommendations
  • Acts as a therapy area or product expert and represents the UK at Regional and Global medical and scientific meetings
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and field based training for MSLs based on the scientific engagement model
  • Identifies and tracks potential research opportunities that are closely aligned with Specific molecule development objectives through facilitating Clinical Research as agreed with Medical TA Head
  • Responsible for milestone delivery in supported research projects.
  • Proactively develops scientific research concepts and ideas with investigators that deliver new data to enhance Specific product profile
  • Provide study and site level feasibility and research site recommendations
  • Provide strategic support during entire trial process to support study and patient accrual as appropriate, and manage the investigator relationship
  • Ensures that prevailing legislation, GCP, Ethical Committee, SOP, local WP requirements, and ABPI Code of Practice requirements are fulfilled.

Requirements:

  • Medical or scientific qualification (M.D., Ph.D. or Pharm.D. preferred)
  • Several years' experience as MSL in the Industry, ideally field-based
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Legal and compliance environment
  • Willingness to travel as it is a field-based role (50-70%)
  • Valid Driving licence
  • A "can-do" attitude
