The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for effective design, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and continual improvement of end user systems hardware, software, related management infrastructure and associated documentation within the SynteractHCR global computing environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to ensure the organization receives maximum benefit from the technology provided to its end users.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve the global end user environment including, but not limited to desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones and related computing hardware.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve the global client software environment including, but not limited to system images, third party applications, and associated software updates.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve the global configuration management environment including, but not limited to software and hardware.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve the global communications environment, including, but not limited to Voice, Teleconferencing, Videoconferencing, Fax and associated services.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve the global printing and scanning services environment.
  • Design, install, configure, operate, maintain and continually improve monitoring, reporting and alerting solutions for end user hardware and software.
  • Establish, maintain and continually improve training program on the effective utilization of client computing services.
  • Establish, maintain and continually improve operational processes and procedures in compliance with governing policies and or Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensures systems and services documentation are established, maintained and continually improved within the SynteractHCR Service Knowledge Management System.
  • Works with team members to ensure maintenance schedules and associated SLA’s are being observed for all systems owned by the Client Services Team.
  • Responds to and resolves service ticket escalations from Global Service Desk and Global Systems within agreed service levels (SLAs/SLOs).
  • Provides functional team expertise in relation to Change Evaluation and Change Management activities.   
  • Provides functional team expertise for root cause analysis in relation to Problem Management activities.
  • Provides mentorship, guidance and training to junior Technical Support & Service Desk staff.
  • Assists team leads and Management in roadmap planning exercises as they relate to Client Services offerings.
  • Works with team members and Management in defining measurements and to provide appropriate metrics for capacity planning.
  • Provides software tracking and usage reporting to Management.
  • Identifies reports on and recommends corrective action on deviations from agreed service level agreements (SLA/SLO).
  • Provides cross-functional expertise to other functional teams as required.
  • May require work outside normal business hours to resolve incidents, problems, complete projects and/or maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

 

Academic & Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in a related field; or
  • 8+ years related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications preferred but not required.  A+, Network+, MCSE/MCSA, ITIL, or other industry standard certifications that may be relevant to position.

Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of best practices in Software Configuration and Mobile Device Management, Windows Operating Systems, Group Policy, and Active Directory account management and Antimalware solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise voice, audio, video and telephony solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, both wired and wireless.
  • Advanced knowledge of ITIL concepts and or other industry standard best practice frameworks and associated processes including, but not limited to Request fulfillment, Incident, Problem, Change and Event Management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft licensing concepts
  • All versions of Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems
  • System Center Configuration Manager 2012, Patch Management, Software and Image Deployment
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, OUs, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP
  • VOIP, VPNs, Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp, Office 365, Skype
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Effective verbal and writing skills; English + local language, if relevant.

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
