Job Summary:

A senior level position has arisen within the manufacturing team of a top-tier pharma in The Netherlands. My client requries a CMO Manager to join their team on a 12month rolling contract where you will lead continuous improvement and manage CMO's across the EMEA region!

Context:

In the rapidly changing environment in which the company operates, developing and maintaining strong business partnerships with CMOs is required to build a network of capabilities to be able to achieve stable supply of precision medication to market.  As a result, CMO management becomes a core competency to achieve this strategy.

Contract Manufacturing Management caries responsibility for the relationships with, the performance of and the development of this network of Contract Manufacturing Organizations. Contract Manufacturing Management  contributes to the companies global mission of operational excellence and stable supply of valuable drug to patient by ensuring outstanding performance by CMOs in terms:

  • securing on time in full delivery,
  • ensuring product quality and GMP compliance,
  • maintaining product and technology knowledge,
  • continuous supply risk reduction
  • continuous optimization of costs of goods
  • complying with highest ethical standards
  • compliance with environmental, safety and security guidelines

Quantitative dimensions

Manage outsourced manufacturing processes of EUTD (Active Ingredients, Raw Materials, Primary and Secondary Packaging) directly impacting 2,5 Billion of Sales

Number of Contract Manufacturers in total approx 50, of which 5-10 are strategic manufacturers supplying in total 80% of the revenue value

 

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 5 years of experience within pharmaceutical industry
  • Lead continuous improvement programs to improve CMO performance (a.o. Quality, Reliability, Costs optimization)
  • Ability to lead  cross-functional (virtual) team of SMEs from various Business Units / Functions
  • Ability to build and maintain outstanding relations with global CMOs across cultural boundaries
  • Thorough understanding of Pharmaceutical manufacturing process, regulatory requirements and GMP compliance

 

Purpose of the position

CMO Management will support the Director Contract Manufacturing and Procurement in driving a continuous improvement program to further establish the core competencies required to manage the CMO base in increasingly complex environment (product complexity, increased spend, increased revenue impact).

 

This role will have the following key goals:

  • Develop, implement and be accountable for translating the company Strategy into market leading deliverables through developing and implementing CMO strategies to deliver outstanding value in terms of risk, service and cost.
  • Work with Technology functions on a Regional and Global level to define & execute the functional strategy
  • Establish and lead multi-functional, cross-regional, cross-business teams to monitor, manage and improve CMO performance
  • Serve as primary interface between respective Global and Regional Business Unit/Functional leaders and CMOs in critical situations impacting EUTD Stable Supply objective.
  • Be recognized as the Global/Regional Centre of Expertise for CMO Management and utilise this knowledge to act as a ‘Change Agent’ for implementing new ways of working
  • Works closely with Regional / Global PPM function in implementing Product Life Cycle Management
