Role

He/she will be an individual contributor overseeing event planning projects, directing work flow, and intervening when necessary to resolve issues.

Main Responsibilities


* Manages at least one individual within the geographically-based Events team, or is a high-level individual contributor who manages events of significant complexity
* Works in partnership with the relevant team lead within Medical Affairs Operations and the Global and Regional Medical Directors to coordinate, and ensure consistency and efficiency in, all relevant departmental operations and processes
* Demonstrates fundamental project management skills and anticipates issues
* Demonstrates ability to collaborate with other functions on projects that involve negotiation and collaboration with cross-functional peers
* Oversees multiple events and ensures that objectives are aligned with the Medical POAs, adapting as required
* Recommends process improvements to event planning unit
* Effectively liaises with external event attendees or vendors to ensure satisfactory services levels and resolve issues
* Builds relationships with senior management and cross-functional teams
* May serve as a point of contact with internal stakeholders and external customers to provide key information and problem resolution relating to event planning
* Ensures adherence to relevant industry code and regulations as part of event planning
* May manage vendor selection process and evaluates vendor performance
* Oversees and interprets metrics for events to measure effectiveness across therapeutic areas (pre/post surveys; budget analysis
* Manages event budgets effectively
* May recruit, hire, and mentor exempt and non-exempt employees
* May be responsible for the supervision and performance reviews of any direct reports
* Assists in assessment of future technologies for the department and directs departmental implementation of new technologies
* Develops role-specific training programs and directs the training of employees in the planning of Medical Affairs events

Skills/Requirements


* Bachelors in Business/Arts, Event Management or related field
* At least 6 years of relevant experience preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
* Must have demonstrated success in developing effective solutions to complex problems
* Must have ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
* Must have excellent project management and communication skills
* Must have demonstrated success in establishing effective working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external key stakeholders
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on time management, follow-through, and issue resolution abilities
* Demonstrates critical thinking skills with ability to anticipate issues and impact on related areas of an event or project
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word, and strong working knowledge of databases is required
