The Director, Strategic Market Development & Communications is responsible for developing, guiding, overseeing and measuring the following:

Specific Job Duties:

  • The Brand – By working with management, the director will ensure the position, prominence and awareness of the UBC Brand(s) and how it ties to UBC’s services (current and planned). The Director will be responsible for managing patent/trademark needs, adherence to brand guidelines and ensuring materials are located centrally and available to all UBC internal customers.
  • The Message – The Director will align with management on a consistent vision, mission and promise statement to the market while also following a global and local approach to messaging in all communication channels. The Director will ensure brand and message tie together and framework to communicate UBC at a consolidated level, a sub-brand level and for different buyers of UBC services.
  • Alignment with our Business – The Director will become an integral part of the UBC lines of business understanding our market position and can easily pickup new business concepts and convert them into meaningful market messages. This will involve a deep understanding of how to position service and technology messages in a business-to-business setting and meeting with business leaders on a quarterly basis to review branding for the organization.
  • The Tactics/Campaigns – The Director will be responsible for developing and leading the global market strategy while establishing measures of campaign success including lead capture analysis, implementing effective and measurable service line and brand awareness campaigns, maximizing print and online advertising investments, and actively engaging with the sales organization on campaign management and follow-through.
  • Competition/Market Framework – The Director will capture information on competitive branding (message, approach, services etc.) to ensure UBC is aware of how competitive forces are influencing our buyers.
  • Product Service Alignment – By working with product owners, the Director will convert service solutions into market facing content as well as listens to client input and provides new ideas for how to position UBC solutions in the market.
  • Marketing “Central” Environment – The Director will be responsible for creating content that can drive written responses in client documents (RFI, RFPs, bid defense presentations, etc.), lead change control and organizational structure of marketing content commodities. The Director will be responsible for the managing the annual marketing budget and development and management of marketing team members. The Director will work closely with the sales, proposals, and finance team members as well as business technology, operations and UBC leadership.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook); Working knowledge of html/website design, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop); Superior time management skills and verbal and communication skills
  • Passion and direction to constantly progress the company forward

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to take direction and to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality or attention to detail
