Job purpose :
This is a graduate entry position into the Novartis Real World Data Analytics (RWDA) team. The associate will gain experience with the analysis of large observational databases (such as medical and pharmacy claims data, electronic health records). Typical projects will include interactive dashboard development for disease area exploration, predictive modelling of health outcomes and formal non-interventional/Real World Evidence (RWE) studies in support of Novartis RWE strategies. It is an opportunity for the successful applicant to put their analytics and data science skills in the service of improving our understanding of human diseases and improving patient health.
Key Responsibilities:

• Gain competence with core RWE tools: R, R/shiny, SAS, Impala, git, JIRA
• Gain familiarity with RWE Non-interventional study procedures and analytic methods
• Contribute to RWE shiny dashboard, NIS and predictive analytics projects as required
• Gain understanding and experience with RWE data sources and standards such as Marketscan, CPRD, JMDC, OMOP
• Gain understanding of and experience with statistical approaches and techniques used in RWE projects such as Cox Proportional Hazards, Survival analysis, logistic regression, LASSO
• Gain understanding of GxP in Pharma
• Gain experience of the full non-interventional study project lifecycle from scoping, through protocol and statistical analysis plan development, cohort extraction, data analysis, production of tables, figures and listings (TFLs) and report writing.
• Gain understanding of study documentation and specifications.
• Maintain consistency and comply with company standards following senior guidance for all project related assignments.
• Support the team in maintaining records for all assigned studies including archiving of data analysis and associated documentation.
• Support the team in maintaining quality in every aspect of job activities.
• Maintain up-to-date, accurate progress of the assigned programming deliverables and ensure high efficiency and timely completion according to agreed timelines.
• Proactively alert the RWE Analyst and/or Real World Data Analytics Team Lead / Senior Programmer on any risks related to the deliverables and the timeliness.
• Contribute to best practices as it relates to analytical standards, including standard programs, macro development and validation, etc.

About the Novartis Global Service Centre in Dublin:

The Novartis Global Service Center (NGSC), Dublin, was set up in 2013 and is located in a state-of-the-art facility on the Merrion Road in Ballsbridge. Minimum requirements

Requirements:
• Basic understanding in R, SAS or another statistical programming language
• An interest in developing programming, statistical, visualization and analytical skills
• Ability to work well within a global organization
• No prior industry experience required
• A strong interest in working in pharma
• Open to experiment and take smart risks to support creative thinking that leads to practical solutions to healthcare and business challenges
• Hold a high standard on quality excellence. Continuously seeking to enhancing standards, technology through expansion of knowledge and training
• Support teamwork to swiftly and efficiently deliver innovative new products to patients and healthcare providers
• High ethical values and standards
• Open to speak out, challenge conventional thinking, and stand up for ideas

Desired:
• Familiarity with technologies for analyzing big data
• Familiarity with visualization and dimensional reduction techniques
• Prior work placement/internship experience with pharma/biotech/RWE organizations
• An interest in pursuing advanced education in the areas of biostatistics, epidemiology or data
