This is an opportunity for an experienced safety physician to take on a highly visible, strategic and communicative role as Director of Vigilance within an independently owned pharmaceutical company in Cambridge. You will provide both; safety and medical expertise as well as strategic knowledge and insight to utilise resource. With an emphasis on epidemiology, in-licencing and risk management you will have a huge impact on the business and be responsible for raising the profile of safety within input to medical, marketing, regulatory and clinical activities.

Broad Purpose of the Job:
· Responsible for the company's approach towards risk management to minimize the safety risk towards patients.
· Responsible for the development, coordination and execution of epidemiology/ pharmaco-epidemiology strategy across projects and throughout all phases of product lifecycle.
· Drive the safety strategy as it relates to review of product opportunities
· Responsible for providing comprehensive review and analysis of the safety of the Company's products including both marketed drugs and those in clinical trials, to ensure consumer, prescriber and regulatory authority confidence.

Qualifications & Experience:
Ideally you will be a GMC Registered Physician although significant experienced candidates without an MD degree will be considered.

· Proven experience in pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry in pharmaco-epidemiology, drug safety or pharmacovigilance.
· Significant experience in safety surveillance and risk management essential
· Proactively understands regulatory framework, trends  and requirements related to epidemiology, risk management, products, clinical studies and global drug development
· Detailed working knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance
