Responsible for oversight of Microbial Identification activities in the microbiology lab and production floor.

Job Title: QC Microbiologist
Location: Belgium

Permanent contract

Responsibilities:
• Oversight of Microbial Identification (ID) activities. Includes coaching QC analysts on proper flow of identification tasks and training on Microbiology skills and best practices.
• Drives continuous improvement within the ID lab. Explores new methodologies and instrumentation for implementation in the lab
• Performs Gram straining and other ID work as needed
• Serves on Microbial Control Team, performing real-time cleanroom assessments and providing SME input or leading technical investigations. Owns corrective actions, ensuring work is complete and the site remains in a state of control. Coordinates work across multiple groups. Relays information in a timely and accurate manner to larger project teams
• Authors, reviews, and revises SOPs. Authors and reviews study protocols/reports. Interpretation and communication of data
• Identifies, reports and deals with deficiencies, deviations and risks
• Develops and leads training programs for specialized and advanced microbiological activities

Requirements:
• Master's degree in a scientific discipline with experience in microbiological area for at least 5 years
• Considered department SME on ISO and cGMP principles and policies. In-depth knowledge of area methodology
• Researches new methodology and makes suggestions for implementation
• In-depth knowledge of microbiological methods, microbial identification systems and use of lab equipment
• Motivates team to be flexible and to respond to planned or unanticipated changes with speed and confidence
• Communicates expectations effectively to members on project teams and in area. Provides suggestions for improvement to documentation and workflows.
• Able to communicate status, needs, forecasts, risks and timelines effectively to management
• Strong written and oral communication
• Computer software skills including Microsoft Office and SAP. Completes assignments on-time and accurately
• French would be an advantage
