Reporting to the senior director, medical science the role will involve:-

Medical Monitoring

To act as medical monitor on designated Phase IIIb/IV clinical studies, including:

Supporting Clinical Study  team (EHQ) and affiliates in the execution of the planned studies

Study design

Internal and external advisory boards

Synopsis development

Feasibility testing

Submission to approval committees

Protocol development

Investigator meetings

Ethics committee submission support

Competent authority submission support

Medical advice on enrolment and discontinuations

Safety monitoring

Medical data review

Contribution and review of Clinical Study report and Patient Narratives

Publications

Medical Affairs

         Linking the Clinical Trials programme with the Strategic Imperatives for the relevant  TAs.

Close liaison with therapy area physicians at all times

Meetings with Brand Teams

Planning for publication

Support for symposia

Internal/External Relationships

Attend selected international meetings and congresses and participate in external platforms and working groups   to foster external relationships.

Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key external experts (KEEs), CROs, healthcare professionals and  other entities to promote the conduct of high quality, ethical clinical studies

The Clinical Research Physician role reports to the Senior Director, Medical Science. The incumbent will collaborate and maintain good interpersonal relationships with the following colleagues:

Associate Director, Clinical Trials

Associate Directors, Medical Affairs – Oncology/Urology/Anti -InfectivesI/Transplantation & Pain

All EU departments

All affiliate medical departments

Global medical departments

External: Investigators, clinical study sites, KEEs, contract research organisations

Required

  • Medical degree
  • Full GMC registration and license to practice
  • Solid understanding of clinical trial methodology and ICH GCP
  • Ability to proactively grasp complex sets of information and act/plan accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
  • Cross-cultural/European awareness
  • Computer literacy
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in Medical support of clinical trials
  • Experience of working for a pharmaceutical company and/or contract research organization.

Already participating in or eligible to undertake the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine’s Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialist Training programme
