The Associate Director, Global Category Sourcing is responsible for developing global category business plans for a broad category of assigned products and services with a significant financial spend. S/he will lead a team of Global Category Sourcing Managers and other Procurement staff responsible for the creation of category and sourcing strategies that lay out clear action steps to drive cost savings, engaging and aligning with the internal customer as well as collaborates in the management of key suppliers. A key responsibility will be the development of Global Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Plans that align with business strategies and objectives and drive significant value for the Company. The main focus of this position will be spend categories for Clinical Research.
In this position, s/he acts as category leader responsible for demonstrating Procurement's value proposition to internal clients for Global Procurement for assigned categories. S/he collaborates with internal and external senior executives, manages large spend categories in accordance with strategic corporate goals, risk management, GxP regulations and optimized total cost of ownership and EBITDA.

  • Highly motivated with ability to drive change in a decentralized / matrixed organization.
  • Strong project management skills and results oriented.
  • Superior ability to analyze and synthesize current situation; formulate desired and stated outcomes.
  • Solid business acumen accompanied by solid and reliable interpersonal skills.
  • Highly proficient in contract negotiations, with significant knowledge of contractual language.
  • Solid track record for cultivating strong relationships with client and supplier stakeholders that have resulted in high customer satisfaction.
  • Superior analytical skills including the ability to distill synthesize and draw conclusions on large amounts of data.
  • Significant experience in planning and implementing change.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Advanced Procurement / Strategic Sourcing experience with emphasis in assigned categories.
  • Proficient in a management role.
  • Oracle and Microsoft experience in a global environment is beneficial.
  • Experience in a global procurement leadership role demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a global, team-based environment.
  • Experience required within the healthcare or closely related industry, such as Pharmaceutical or Biomedical arena, preferred.
  • BS in Business, Finance or Supply Chain. MBA Preferred.
  • C.P.M or equivalent professional certification preferred.
