PAREXEL has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, Global Category Management & Strategic Sourcing to join our global procurement team. The Senior Director, Global Category Management & Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing global category business plans and strategic sourcing for a broad category of assigned products and services with a significant financial spend. This role is the process owner responsible for demonstrating the Strategic Sourcing value proposition to key stakeholders, and strategically assists in revenue growth and driving EBITDA. In this position, you will also responsible for overseeing key stakeholder relationships, measuring the performance of the supply base, in accordance with corporate goals, contractual requests and stipulations, risk management, GxP regulations and cost savings.

You will oversee the creation of category and sourcing strategies that lay out clear action steps to drive cost savings, engaging and aligning with the internal customer, as well as collaborating in the management of key suppliers. A key responsibility will be the development of global sourcing plans that align with business strategies and objectives and drive significant value for the Company.


Multiple European Locations Considered.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage a team of Category Leaders, Sourcing Leader, Category Managers and Business Analysts and ensure procurement is performed in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Overall responsibility for the framework used for Category Management and Strategic Sourcing.
  • Drive the use of best practices and standardization of category management and sourcing processes.
  • Measure team effectiveness against established performance metrics.
  • Oversee large scale sourcing engagements and teams in the conduct of opportunity identification and RFx’s where appropriate.
  • Leverage spend across the enterprise to drive global supply agreements.
  • Lead acquisition of products and services assuring continuity and quality of supply while maximizing EBITDA.
  • Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.
  • Implement supplier agreements by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
  • Lead the category and sourcing teams in developing high quality analyses and CFO-ready decision supporting business cases.
  • Develop strong tool set to assist global team members in daily operations; establish key performance indicators to provide process visibility to stakeholders and management.
  • Lead efforts to reduce excess suppliers, low performing suppliers and competitors as suppliers.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for key categories.
  • Lead market intelligence strategy and tools to profile, benchmark, research and assess supply markets.
  • Originate new concepts and innovative approaches for the organization.
QualificationsSuccessful candidates for this role will possess:

Knowledge and Experience:
  • 10 - 15 years Procurement, Category Management and Strategic Sourcing experience.
  • 5+ years in a management role.
  • Experience in a global procurement leadership role demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a global, team-based environment.
  • Significant experience in planning and implementing change.
  • Oracle and Microsoft experience in a global environment is beneficial.
  • Experience required within the healthcare or closely related industry, such as Pharmaceutical or Biomedical arena is highly preferred.

Education:
  • BS in Business, Finance or Supply Chain. MBA preferred.
  • C.P.M or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Skills:
  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, business and supply chain management practices, theories, principles and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of models and trends in the category supply markets.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and judgment.
  • Demonstrated success of leading global teams to achieve quantifiable results.
  • Highly motivated with ability to drive change in a decentralized / matrixed organization.
  • Decisive leader with the objective of balancing corporate and internal stakeholder goals.
  • Superior ability to analyze and synthesize current situation; formulate desired and stated outcomes.
  • Solid business acumen accompanied by superior communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in contract negotiations, with significant knowledge of contractual language.
  • Solid track record for cultivating strong relationships with client and supplier stakeholders that have resulted in high customer satisfaction.
  • Superior analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize and draw conclusions on large amounts of data.
  • Second language a plus.
