The successful candidate will participate in the design and synthesis of novel compounds, and interface with our biological and pharmacological collaborators in the development of these compounds. In particular, this individual will design and synthesize novel chemical compounds with a focus to optimize potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics and in vivo efficacy. As a member of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with a broad group of scientists. The successful candidate will contribute effectively to patent, report, and scientific publication writing.





In order to be most effective in this role, you will need to possess the following:

PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Synthetic or Medicinal Chemistry and industry experience in Pharmaceutical medicinal Chemistry valued.
*

High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving and analytical skills.
*

Excellent scientific expertise in organic synthesis, and familiarity with the current literature, including a strong working knowledge of organic reactions and mechanisms and the ability to interpret NMR and mass spectral data.
*

Broad knowledge of purification techniques for small molecules.
*

Demonstrated ability to work independently in the laboratory and to make compounds in a timely fashion.
*

Problem solving skills and a track record of documented success via publications.
*

Skill with computers, electronic notebooks, and electronic literature searching using SciFinder.
*

Excellent communication skills and ability to present rationale, key data, issues and accomplishments of chemistry efforts to other members of the team and external collaborators.
*

Strong knowledge of medicinal chemistry principles, with a solid understanding of key ADME, biochemical and pharmacological principles and able to effectively integrate and apply these to the optimization of multiple parameters during lead generation and lead optimization efforts.
