Purpose of position
The Market Development Manager Surgical Glaucoma EMEA is supporting optimal market adoption of Alcon's Surgical Glaucoma Portfolio by providing high-quality technical training. Furthermore, the role includes improving commercial selling capabilities of Alcon's Surgical Glaucoma field force as well as supporting the development of commercial strategies based on opportunities and challenges related to product utilization and customer feedback.

Major Accountabilities

• Plan, develop, and provide training for surgical glaucoma products via a variety of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, workshops, virtual and on-demand training.
o Train newly hired Surgical Glaucoma personnel on the science, technology and utilization for the Surgical Glaucoma product portfolio (e.g. CyPass)
o Update training content regularly in guidance with regulatory needs and incorporation of internal and external feedback

• In market support:
o Coach newly hired and certified Surgical Glaucoma team members via in OR/field-coaching and double visits especially during first certifications
o Support local Surgical Glaucoma team members handling challenging and complex cases
o Certify and manage selected KOLs in accordance with local team requirements

• Support pre-launch market assessments and related activities:
o Perform surgeon certifications in markets before commercial teams installed in order to allow early KOL engagement and accelerate ramp up
o Support new launch countries with set-up of wet/dry labs during ad-boards, educational events and congresses

• Provide regional team with relevant market/competitive intelligence, customer feedback related to product utilization and opportunities to elevate the customer experience

• Support in market customer focused activities including launch events, congresses, product demonstrations, wet-labs, and surgeon certification programs

• Penetrate importance of correct patient selection process with surgeons as well as with Alcon's Surgical Glaucoma personnel and develop strategies to increase flow of right patients types to CyPass users

• Develop and train objection handling tools in close cooperation with medical affairs and commercial – apply learnings and insights from intensive field/OR experience in order to improve selling skills and drive business success

• Develop plans and implements actions to increase effectiveness of CyPass certification process (e.g. reference centers, patient follow-up process…)

• Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work -- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

Minimum requirements

The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in education, human resources, commercial or relevant field is desirable.
• Fluency in English essential and preferably another language such as Italian, French, German or Spanish.
• Track record in designing and executing successful training programs as well as training and certifying surgeons on new technologies in several European countries
• Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to capture customer feedback regarding product utilization and adoption into commercial strategy development
• Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
• Strong report writing and record keeping ability
• Good computer and database skills
• Managing extensive travel activities (60-70% per week)
