Job Summary:

Due to the ongoing development of a state-of-the-art Biologics facility and an exciting and varied portfolio of antibody therapeutic programmes, there are currently a position for a talented individual with an academic interest and experience of Antibody Purification & Analysis.

Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES

The holder of this post will provide analytical support for process characterisation and understanding activities within Process Development. The position is laboratory based, and comprises independent undertaking of a range of analytical biochemistry techniques. This work will include analysis of in-process samples (generated both internally and externally), isolation and characterisation of process-related impurities and substances, and development of new analytical methods for process analysis and continuous improvement of capabilities.

Successful candidate will be expected to:

  • generate in a timely manner analytical data and to carry out independent investigations into aspects of bioprocess development, by application of a range of analytical biochemistry methods
  • assist with isolation and characterisation of protein and impurity samples as may be required, by a range of established protein analytical techniques
  • independently evaluate and develop new analytical methodologies that may be of use to IPA
  • maintain a high standard of record keeping and documentation, including proper use of laboratory notebooks, electronic records and training material.
  • report scientific findings to the rest of the group in an appropriate way, including presentations, written reports and informal discussions.
  • Working within an international and multicultural environment you should be open, flexible, and have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have knowledge of various downstream processing tools, some experience of chromatography and protein conjugation techniques, as well as a good understanding of analytical methods (HPLC, ELISA and electrophoresis) for assessing product purity and protein characterisation.

Interested candidates should have a strong Bachelor’s degree, Masters or PhD in a related field. Ideally, we are looking to identify candidates who are currently working within the Pharmaceutical Industry, or who have completed a placement year in a similar field.
