Our client, an internationally renown CRO have a fantastic opportunity to join their burgeoning genomic medicine division, to be involved in their cutting edge projects & to become a member of their highly supportive team.

The Senior Genomic Scientist is an experienced scientist responsible for the implementation or development of technical solutions, as well as the provision of expert advice to internal and external clients, on the strategy, management and analysis of omics data and results. You will be responsible for the processing and analysis of large data volumes of omics data. You'll have mastered all routine tasks, require little instruction on day-to-day work, and are able to take on new areas of responsibility with general instruction and minimal oversight.

Key Accountabilities
Provide technical and computational solutions to the processing, analysis and interpretation of omics data
Serve as a primary source of scientific support for the design, analysis, reporting, and presentation of omic analyses for all phases of drug development
Responsible for authoring, contributing to or reviewing documents such as technical reports, analysis plans, sections of regulatory documentation, scientific publications, abstracts, posters.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant fields such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computational programming, statistical genetics, drug discovery and development
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with internal and external clients and scientists
Undertake the full range of duties to ensure performance meets and or exceeds both the business and own personal goals/objectives
May provide training and scientific support and advice to relevant staff
Attend client meetings and represent Genomic Medicine as needed

Ability to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Expertise in bioinformatics, statistical genetics, biostatistics
Skilled in several programming languages and tools (R, PERL, PYTHON, etc) with very strong programming skills in R
Expertise working in Unix/Linux. Familiarity with cloud computing a plus
Experience in the creation of analysis workflows and pipelines
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to clearly communicate complex results of computational analyses and concepts to diverse audiences
Demonstrates independent thought and ability to exercise judgment to influencing design and implementation of projects and program deliverables
Client focused approach to work ethic. Capable of handling confidential information and data
Self-motivated and proactive with a flexible attitude to work assignments and new learning.
Ability to manage multiple, varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with high attention to detail and quality.
Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value and promote the importance of teamwork.

Knowledge and Experience
In-depth knowledge and experience of common bioinformatics and genomic databases, resources and tools
Demonstrated proficiency in computational programming
Demonstrated proficiency in the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of analytical methods
Demonstrated proficiency in the processing, management and analysis of large volumes of omic data (NextGen sequencing, genotype arrays, metabolomics, proteomics, etc.)
Understanding of the drug development process, familiarity with clinical data, and a broad knowledge of FDA and EMA with respect to the application of omics to medicine development a plus

Education and Qualifications
Educated to PhD degree level preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, computational science or equivalent areas.
Publication record in peered review journals
