Acting as senior legal expert responsible for complex international business partnering and negotiations for global legal and business customers. Leading a specialized legal services team in NGSC Dublin to support key Novartis contracting activities cost-effectively and with quality and service excellence. Responsible for training and developing legal services associates in NGSCs in Europe, Asia and Latin America in legal technical skills, business partnering and influencing soft-skills and in line with Novartis people development requirements and Novartis Values and Behaviors.

Your Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work with Global Service Lead for PLS Legal Services and Global Head of Legal, PLS to deliver objectives for the PLS Legal Services delivery team worldwide and meet evolving business and customer needs.
• Manage PLS legal services team in NGSC Dublin supporting contract management and negotiation services for clinical trial contracting and other contracts of similar complexity level in direct contact with the business and legal clients and lead roll out of new services for delivery
• Contribute to overall functional excellence through leading complex drafting, negotiation and business partnering engagements with global legal and business customers and by training legal services associates in all NGSCs in relevant technical legal skills and in influencing and business partnering skills
• Drive implementation of automation projects and process improvements
• Implement quality control, adherence to agreed timelines and technical excellence in service delivery for:-
• Clinical Trial Agreements and associated clinical trial documentation
• Research Agreements and other life sciences contracts in R&D, Tech Ops or devices
• NDA, CDA’s , Data Privacy Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements
• Deliver Weekly operational reports, Monthly/Quarterly KPI reports and, as needed, business reports regarding SLA completion / Finance metrics and additional KPIs.
• Develop legal services functional capabilities to facilitate growth in volume and range of services which can be delivered.
• Identify and resolve operational issues, communicate recommendations/solutions to local or global managers/partners
• Responsible for people management including personal and technical development of associates, succession planning and mentoring of associates and performance appraisal
• Manage direct reports in day-to day operational matters and also deliver own individual contribution in 70:30 ratio
• Implement optimization and standardization of current processes to achieve efficiencies and deliver consistent services across customer groups and processes.

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Professionally qualified lawyer - Ireland/ UK / EU / US or other jurisdiction Excellent English
• Experience in contract management /operational services and contract automation
• Legal services industry / in–house legal background
• Experience in leading a team and formal people management duties

Desirable Requirements:

• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Past work reflects a track record of operational excellence in analytics space
• Familiarity with process set-up, quality KPIs and operational issues / management
