Requirements:

As the Functional Excellence Manager, you are part of the Global Procurement organization and will report directly to the Functional Excellence/BPO Manager. You will be a part of the Risk, Contracts & Compliance team focusing on supporting delivery of organizational initiatives through the provision of process improvement expertise and the leveraging of Functional Service Providers. The position will be located in Welwyn, UK.  

Global Procurement is a key function that delivers value to Roche by leveraging market knowledge, subject matter expertise and business insights in the procurement of goods and services and the management of Roche's third party spend. Through collaboration with our external suppliers and internal business partners, Global Procurement helps bring innovative tests and medicines to patients.

The Functional Excellence Manager supports the delivery of various business projects and initiatives for the organization by providing process improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma), project management expertise aligned with Functional Process Excellence principles and/or by leveraging our Functional Service Provider (FSP) networks. In day to day operations time and effort is required to manage a moderate number of cross-divisional global, regional and local Procurement stakeholders. The FE Manager works with the RCC capability teams and a broad range of functional stakeholders to optimize execution of the end-to-end contract process (e.g. playbooks, templates, etc.)

1. Core accountabilities

  • Lead functional and/or business process excellence projects. Provide Functional Excellence & Project Management expertise aligned with Business Process Excellence principles. Apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify data-driven root causes. Challenge existing ways of working within Procurement. Support harmonization of processes across Procurement. Conduct change impact analysis. Implement practical and sustainable processes through supporting Project Managers / service customers to deliver project goals in budget and on schedule. Depending on project scope, define, plan and direct the execution of a broad range of business projects, while balancing competing demands of scope, cost, quality, resources and risk. Lead and influence stakeholder relationships to achieve optimized and implemented processes
  • Partner with enabler user community stakeholders to develop, enhance and implement
  • Responsible for project health metrics on owned projects. Working with project team members and stakeholders to ensure appropriate progress and reporting on health metrics
  • Responsible for inclusion of risk management and mitigation principles in FE projects and with FSPs as appropriate
  • Lead process harmonization and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness Continually seek to enhance and streamline contracting processes, templates, tools and other resources to support consistency, efficiency and high standards of compliance. Leverage FSP resources as appropriate
  • Lead Functional Excellence service offering change through effective planning, facilitation and communication with Procurement stakeholders to enable desired behavioral changes
  • Provide effective communication support for overall capability team projects and take responsibility for projects where in leading role
  • Lead identification and resolution of project management and process improvement issues where capability team lead.
  • Support and implement the vision, engagement, transition management and ongoing momentum of resource and resourcing related transformational projects, including stakeholder management and communications strategy and implementation plans
  • Manage project-specific and/or FSP-specific budgets effectively
  • Capture and make accessible relevant Functional Excellence documentation and communicate through established communities. In alignment with the Capability Building function, provide content input and delivery support for process specific training


Your Qualifications:
  • Relevant Bachelor degree
  • Sufficient experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Project and/or Process management
  • Capability specific and functional experience
  • Project / program management experience in complex multidisciplinary context
  • Process based mindset focused towards driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to work independently
  • Business level fluency in English
  • Leadership development, innovation, process excellence or facilitator training or certification is desired
  • Pharmaceutical industry or management consulting experience is desired
  • Understanding of (Roche's) Business Processes and experience in Process Reengineering
  • Knowledge of (Roche) Procurement and business stakeholder policies and processes is desired
  • Supplier side business process outsourcing experience is desired
  • Formal Change Management certification is desired
  • Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen and/or project management certification is desired
