Medical Manager - Oncology

As one of the world's leading research based pharmaceutical companies, Roche is driven by the passion and innovative spirit of its people.  As a team, we work together in a collaborative environment to create new solutions that enrich lives across the world. Key to achieving that mission are our pioneering licensed medicines, as well as a growing pipeline of new products.

The UK  Medical Directorate is at the forefront of these exciting developments. We need ambitious professionals, adding tangible medical value to drive our future success.

The focus areas for the Medical Managers are:

-         Customer : The medical customer-centric team member within the franchise ensuring that customers will partner with us ahead of the competition, in collaborations that bring tangible medical value.

-         Access : The medical franchise lead partnering with Market Access on a coordinated approach to access for our patients.

-         Partner:  The Medical Manager contributes to the success of the UK affiliate by representing the Medical Directorate within the cross-functional franchise teams.

The Medical Manager   role is within the Oncology therapy area, offering a varied product portfolio. The role offers the exciting challenges of operating in competitive environments, engaging with a tight knit clinical community and innovative scientific advances.

Your role will include direct contributions alongside  the Country Medical Leader and Medical Team Leader towards development of local medical plans, ownership of therapy area expert collaborations, and oversight of the medical strategy and tactics for the franchise. Medical Affairs activities include, but are not limited to; medical education programmes, non-promotional multichannel strategy, collaboration towards HTA submissions, publications, and active attendance at key global conferences. You will work in, and lead, multidisciplinary teams in the UK, with significant marketing and communications engagement.

Ideally, medically or pharmaceutically qualified and GMC/GPhC registered, you will have medical affairs experience from the pharmaceutical industry, potentially coupled with relevant practical clinical experience and understanding. You will require a working knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice.

Importantly, well rounded personal qualities are valued, such as your ability to coach and mentor colleagues (for more senior roles), demonstrate leadership whilst working autonomously, strong project management skills, self-reliance, excellent team working, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Specifically you should be able to:

•           Translate insights into actionable recommendations for varied stakeholder groups

•           Build up disease area knowledge and expertise quickly, and maintain overview of several knowledge areas at the same time

•           Recognize transferable insights and apply them from one therapy area to another

•           Think strategically about how specific insights could impact on other functions e.g market access, commercial etc.

•           Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams across several assets both on a local and global level

•           Innovate in areas where new solutions are required to address a particular need

Bring us your talent, and we'll bring you outstanding career development opportunities - both within the UK and globally.  Take the opportunity to be part of Roche's supportive culture, within which feeling valued, respected and empowered is a daily experience.

If you feel you have the commitment to teamwork and innovation that we are seeking, then Roche is the organisation for you. In return we offer a competitive salary plus the excellent benefits you would expect from a blue-chip organisation, including a genuine interest in your development and career progression.
