HEALTH INFORMATION ONLINE Consumer WebWatch and URAC look to improve the quality of online health information URAC and Consumer WebWatch are collaborating to develop strategies to improve consumer health-related Internet searches. Funded by a grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and with support from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, US Department of Health and Human Services, the initiative will be the first in-depth examination of the role of search engines in improving access to quality health information. Read full article Older adults increasingly use Internet for medical research; tend to overrate quality of medical information online A growing number of older adults are relying on the Internet to obtain medical information, says a study published in the February issue of CHEST, the peer-reviewed journal of the American College of Chest Physicians. The study found that patients with lung cancer are increasingly using the Internet as a major resource for information about their disease.
